Sounds like Dallas did just kick the tires on Miller and then Vancouver brass told Dhaliwal so they could create an artificial bidding war.

I’m not sure what @Dallasman source said to him but I imagine it was something general that they’re big game hunting, but we won’t know anything until a trade is actually done. Not going to get leaked to us.

Canes always going after everybody. They always seem to have prospects that are always good yet never in the NHL lol. Swear we've been hearing about the same guys for years in their system. They got the job done with getting Guentzel, wouldn't surprise me if they get it done here too. Rangers too cause they seem desperate and Canucks seem to have a ton of interest in some of their guys

Seems we always miss out on the big targets these days. Just mostly talk and then other teams pull the triggers. Stars will probably be rumored in on everyone until the deadline

Let's just hope Nill doesn't miss out on his target(s). I'd hate to see his backup plans after the way this summer went lol

Having a crappy prospect pool sucks.

Also keep in mind the Stars might view Yanni Gourde as big game.
It will be Gourde and Savard. Nill will try to sell that’s all he could do cause he did not want to pony up for a true big name. Which based on rumors it’s not hard to beat the rangers offer for Miller.

with benn, duchene, and johnston up this year, Nil/Gags shpuld sell all 3 on deferred contracts to win a Cup. If you can shave ~$4.5m AAV between the 3 of them on the new contracts, then less retention is needed for EK / Jones or dont have to pay to dump Dumba

Not sure what the coaching staff is doing with the offensive lines. Prior to Roope going out, they had a very good thing going. I don’t get why they haven’t gotten back to it.

Robo-Hintz-Daddy
Benn-Duchene-Johnston
Bourque-Steel-Stank

On the defensive side of things. I like that group of 6. They can continue rotating Dumba & Lundqvist until they find a legitimate RD to play 16-20 minutes a night.

I’m good with keeping Miro on the right side. The whole idea of Miro not being able to play to his fullest potential while on his off side is bogus. He’s had plenty of games on the left side this year, and he looks no different. I think it’s safe to finally put that narrative to bed.

We're in way better shape with young players than most other teams in our position.
This is very true.

You can look at other teams who have spent the past few seasons going all in like Boston and Pittsburgh and see they have no one good under 25 because they kept trading every top pick for deadline additions.

Nill being stingy year after year with his top draft picks for the most part has allowed the Stars to keep drafting and developing young guys. Of course, this also makes you wonder if he'd gone a bit bolder in recent seasons whether they'd have been able to push past the conference final. Who knows.

Nils was doing well until that brutal turnover last game. Now back in the doghouse

If it means Bichsel plays then so be it

Dumba turns it over every time he touches the puck. Replacing him with Nils just makes us worse lol
I'm fine playing Dumba if doing so is necessary to facilitate ultimately getting rid of him by pretending he's still useful.

The truth is neither of those two guys should be on the roster long term. They're just warm bodies, but at least Lundkvist delivering nothing lines up with his cap hit. Dumba's contract is a problem.

It's almost February. There's no time to waste now. We're going to need 2 new D for the playoffs and Bushel is one of them. The more games he gets the more time to work out the kinks before everything gets magnified.
