Of course Lundkvist isn't going to play in the playoffs. He'll play all season and then PDB will change course completely.

Your playoff D are:
Heiskanen
Harley
Lindell
Lyubushkin
Bichsel
TDL acquisition

Your best hope is that Nils wins the 7th spot ahead of Dumba/Smith/Petrovic/Random AHLer

I would actually argue Karlsson is a pretty critical need because the only thing that can take Miro off PP1 with this coaching staff is a guy with real skins on the wall. And we know that Nill looked at acquiring the player in the past.

Being able to accept a massive cap hit is also advantageous to exploit the Seguin situation and reduce what you're giving up from the roster.

I'll believe it when I see it, just like the alleged Andersson move, that also isn't going to happen.

He's not going to piss away 8m in cap space (plus assets) fro JT Miller needing to re-sign Wyatt and Harley before it expires, never mind Robertson too.
And if he trades Robertson for Miller, to make the money work, someone should take him out back and old yeller him

Any Andersson talk got derailed by Dustin Wolf stealing a bunch of points for a Flames team everyone, including the Flames front office, assumed would be out of the playoff race by now.

I'd only be interested if we're paying nothing in value.

He's looked awful when healthy the past couple years, and his contract could be a real killer.

I say this as a guy who still thinks highly of Seth Jones, too. If he can get back to his level from a few years ago, he'd give us the best defensive core in the league.

Has to be retained too.

Nils, Dumba, 1st/Hemming for Jones with 25% retained. They would 100% have to put Seguin on the LTIR, and long term I don't know if Chicago would want 25% on the books for the next 5 years to have Jones play for us. I don't think the Hawks are going to be better in the next 3-5 though, so they may just want more long term building blocks.

Maybe we can also just get some organizational depth from their wildly deep pool of unsigned guys. Maybe Gavin Hayes, too. They have lots of unsigned bodies, just nowhere to put them all.

Yea that I would do in a heartbeat.

Chicago seems to think Jones is still their D of the future, despite him seemingly not giving a shit about the team right now and also being several years older than the rest of their core players.

He doesn't seem like the best leader, either, which was a large part of what they brought him in for.

Seth Jones always striked me as an overrated player. When was the last time he was actually good/healthy?
17-18.

His draw is that he's a big rhd with good offense and legs.

Players don't get healthier with age usually.

He's otherwise getting paid a lot of money to waste his career on teams that are wholly uncompetitive. (See Dak for example)

Maybe he doesn't want to come back to Dallas. Who knows, but all we want is Nill to fix the few woes they have.

Friedman talked with Dhaliwal on his show yesterday and re-iterated he doesn’t think it’s Dallas when asked by Rick.

I don’t think we’re on in him anymore. Might have kicked the tires at the start but it seems like other teams have jumped over Dallas now.

Wish they'd tease it just a little longer so we have something to at least hope for

prob a bit hyperbolic with the "at least" phrasing

Again, I think its a bad deal I just think 1c's that put up 100 points cost you the farm 😂. the main problem with he stars is our picks are all late and we don't have a 2nd this year. Ideally in all these trades nill convinces someone kyrou, stranges, or ertel are blue chip prospects like he got calgary to bite on Grushnikov.

Rumors of the Rangers offer for miller are Chytil, Lindgren, and a conditional 1st. That does not sound like giving the farm. That’s more like giving the old farm truck that may not start anymore.

That also seems very easy to beat that offer. I do wonder if Miller is dictating this and saying he wants NY. Maybe he does not want Dallas and that’s why Friedman saying he does not think it will be Dallas.

Yeah, the downside of trading a guy with a NMC who can pick his destination is the selling team seldom gets good return.
