Kakko has no upside.Everyone here seems obsessed w adding guys with term. Peterson in pit is right sided dman, young and expiring. Kakko is great target low cap, high upside, finn. Also gourde and granlund are primo target bc they are expiring. Expiring guys are cheaper and guys like signing with Dallas after they have been here.
Just saw the kakko trade missing out on that is a giant L
Edit. Also vetrano is a top 6 pp guy who is expiring, ez target
NoWas listening to the radio and heard giordano name come up and how he’s still skating and was by 5 on 5 metrics the second best dman on the leafs last season, he wouldn’t be a bad signing only problem is he’s 41 not sure how much he has left in the tank. Could call up bischel sign gio as the defense additions then go all in with the trade assets on forward help.
Wonder what Seattle would want for himI guess he’d be a nice upgrade over Blackwell.
Dadonov tooI guess he’d be a nice upgrade over Blackwell.
Kreider is 33 and falling off making 6.5 for 2 more seasons.Krieder
Kakko has no upside.
I want no part of Kreider.Kreider is 33 and falling off making 6.5 for 2 more seasons.
Kakko 23, expiring on 2.3 mil, in the dog house constantly. Underlying numbers look like nuke before he left Dallas.
I'm more lamenting we should have been in at the price he went for. Especially if it means clearing a depth dman like Seattle did with borgenI want no part of Kreider.
Kakko isn’t what this team needs. They don’t need a checking winger. They need goal scoring. The Stars are already full of defensively responsible wingers who don’t score.

Agree but idk how realistic it is to fit 11.6M under the hoodI would rather Panarin if looking at the Rangers. If he would waive he could set up Hintz and Robo. If looking at a scorer what are y’all’s thoughts on Rakell
Panarin would be amazing and is probably what this team needs. Dallas needs a superstar player like him that can take over a game. He would help hintz and Robo for sure. He is very expensive but if the rangers are selling worth a look.I would rather Panarin if looking at the Rangers. If he would waive he could set up Hintz and Robo. The trade price was nice, but it was still a couple of picks you might prefer to use for an actual needed upgrade. Nill has already spent the '25 2nd and '26 4th, so dipping into more of those picks for Kakko would be depleting bullets better used on what would improve the Stars.I wouldve taken Kakko - the price truly was f*** all. I think he has another offensive gear to his game.
Youre worrying about throw in draft picks w/ no value. Nill traded Dellandrea for a 4th lolThe trade price was nice, but it was still a couple of picks you might prefer to use for an actual needed upgrade. Even cap wise, Kakko makes more than every bottom six winger other than Benn, so you're also consuming some amount of the precious Seguin LTIR money on a guy who is a minor redundancy upgrade (upwards of $1.6 million if the guys displaced were Back or Blackwell).
I'm worried about going after someone who will actually help improve the team, and we know how Nill hates trading too many draft picks in any one draft year. Blowing some lower picks on a minor upgrade to the 4th line seems like a bad move when Nill needs to feel fully armed to go after a top six guy.Youre worrying about throw in draft picks w/ no value. A guy like Kakko is a cost controlled asset- not only would he help the bottom 6 now but possibly show upside for the next 2-5 years. I’d way rather throw darts at guys like him than move 2nd rounders for guys like Max DomiI'm worried about going after someone who will actually help improve the team, and we know how Nill hates trading too many draft picks in any one draft year.
