Mailloux: 6’3” 213 pounds, 21 points in 34 games in the AHL

Luneau: 6’2” 203 pounds, 15 points in 24 AHL games

Not really sure what you mean by not even close. The injuries are a concern with Luneau but the hope is that it’s behind him now
Between lacombe/zellwegger lie our most obvious trade bait/want from other teams. 2 guys already in the nlh. And as far as verbeek is concerned, at some point room will have to be made for Solberg, a player he traded up in the draft and wanted badly. He also seems to really love Luneau too. My guess is, Verbeek would rather trade a young dman that’s down with the gulls that’s not Luneau/warren. But if we want to take a big swing at a top line forward. Or someone like cozens ( Buffalo will want more than just picks back ) one of lacombe or zellwegger probably have to go+ a young forward prospect . I would’ve bet anything it would’ve been lacombe to start the season. Now it looks like zellwegger, especially with the recent scratches. I don’t include helleson here, because I don’t see him being the main piece in a trade where we target a forward upgrade. Seems like helleson is a fine bottom pairing man.

Not even close. Mailloux has much more size, offensive upside, physicality, and also produced in the AHL. Luneau hasn’t produced and also has injury concerns. We’d be lucky to get a mid to late 2nd for him.
Mailloux is one of the worst defensive dmen in the AHL. He's absolutely unplayable at the NHL level and I doubt he ever will be.

As others have said, the Ducks are going to have to draft their way to being a competitive team which is why it is so important for them to make every pick count.

I disagree with this sentiment. The Ducks have already drafted themselves into getting high end players. I can't imagine more draft picks fixing this issue because it takes years for players to become impactful at the NHL level. They need actual NHL players now to buoy support for the young players. If just drafting is the only path for success for the Ducks, it will be a failure. It is not enough.

I agree, however rare the cutter G situations come up, they do happen. We have a ton of young stud d prospects + high draft picks to use as trade bait. And it’s time we do so when the opportunity arises

The problem is that those opportunities are rare as you admitted. The young D are still trying to prove they belong in the NHL. Until they do I think their trade value is limited.

This is good news for the Ducks. They legit have a chance to get this guy.

Am I mistaken or didn’t Luneau start the season at like 220 lbs?

On a much worse team, Luneau is still ahead of Mailloux in terms of P/GP in the AHL.

And, perhaps even more importantly—as far as we know—he isn’t a disgusting piece of ****.
I agree with you there haha. I liked him at the draft before learning of his scumbag actions. Having a daughter id never want him playing for my organization.

However, teams still like that size and offensive production. Luneau needs to outplay Mckeown and have some NHL success to have the same trade value after losing so much time. I think we are inflating Luneau too much based on the weaker QMJHL competition.

We also need great development coaches at both the AHL and NHL levels. I'm not liking our dev coaches at both levels.

aves needed a forward pieces that could be productive now , woulda needed to be like

Terry/zegras/mctavish
Luneau/zellweger
Dumolin
Picks

Just doesn’t make sense for us…. If we want 1 of these big names it has to be through free agency, or something we can trade our 1st + for. I don’t think we can subtract to add for our offense.

If we’re trading for help now it has to be a team looking to rid themselves of cap/struggling player with potential…. Kinda like the burakovksy/bjorkstrand trades the last couple years. But if those don’t happen, then we prob have to wait till offseason.

Unfortunately no one is going to come here with Cronin at the helm…. Specially with what silf/bush have said…. Red flags all over
Didn’t Trouba adjust his no trade clause to come here, and vats re-sign with Cronin here. I understand some people won’t come because of him, but we’ve had to people willingly come here in the past 1-2 months.

He chose Anaheim for the fact that his wife had a lot options as far as being a doctor and having hospital choices nearby ( probably didn’t hurt that the wife is close friends with stromes wife and vatrano/strome/trouba are friends too etc)
Yes I agree he came here for other reasons, but just showing Cronin isn’t going to stop everyone from coming here. Although he’s not going to be a reason someone wants to be here, maybe besides Johnston 😂

Friedman made it sound as though (my words not his directly) that Pettersson is likely to get dealt.

19-0-3 when scoring 3 or more goals. Elias Petterrsson would certainly help…
