I'd like to see RW Colangelo in a top-6 situation at the NHL level. The Gulls lists Colangelo at 6'2 and 212 lbs. He's an AHL all-star for the Gulls in his rookie season.

Could try this lineup, since Lundy is gone for a long minute
Killorn-Carlsson-Terry
Cutter-Mac-Colangelo
Vatrano-Strome-Nesterenko
xxx-Harkins-Johnston
This should be the type of things Ducks are trying out during a rebuilding season. But this would require a change in head coach. Cronin isn't going to demote any vets at the expense of youth.

Yeah I was meaning from a trade perspective, but 100% Colangelo deserves a longer look than he’s been given so far.

Need to find a way to get cozens. His age, play style and upside is exactly what we need. If we can use zellwegger as the main piece going back. Would be great .
Depending on where our first round pick lands I would love to move it for him - probably at the draft

It's not just about goal scorers its the style of scoring goals. The teams desperately needs power forwards specifically hard hitting in your face aggressive. Almost everyone here still wants more undersized soft perimeter players
As much as I agree the team is very soft but every time the Ducks go out and get grit it ends up pretty underwhelming.

Gudas was solid in his first year and Trouba will throw the occasional hit but they're not exactly Chris Pronger in terms of aggressiveness (obviously the skill difference goes without question). I'm just not sure the nastiness is there with the modern player and if it is, it quickly goes away when they arrive in Anaheim.

I like the idea of Terry (clearly our best player) being saddled next to Leo. If we trust (which I think we should) Leo defensively, and with Terry’s defensive prowess, which I feel is maybe underrated…. I’d love to throw Zegras on the LW, Killorn takes nesty’s spot, nesty drops to the 4th line. And IF Verbeek + McIlvane think one of Judd Caulfield or Nathan Gaucher are ready throw one up to the 4th line. (That’s if Judd is waiver exempt which I don’t know…. Also speaking of Judd, that dude was raised to be a role player. 6’3”, 191 lbs, Right handed shot, played with Zegras and Colangelo @ US development program. These are the kind of unsexy gems like Barclay Goodrow for Tampa that championship level teams need to get lucky with from time 2 time.)

This would be ideal in letting the ducklings loose for the final 35 ish games. We are down leaning on the vets this season, and time to give the ducklings an honest chance to address where we are at these final 35 ish games.

In a perfect world we’d hire a new coach to jump start this process, but also in all honesty, even though I may not think he’s a good NHL coach currently, I’d argue he hasn’t been given a fair shake at an honest chance with our young top end talent handed the reigns.

I’ve said, ad nauseam hahaha, I truly believe Verbeek has a control on roster deployment, especially in terms of shelter the youth. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Leo / Cutter / Terry get some legit PK time.

Asking 21 year old kids to do this stuff for 82 games is much more physically demanding than 35 games. Vets carried us this far, let the boys play.

Edit : trade Dumo for less and before the trade deadline. Thanks Dumo I’m sure you’re contributions went on beyond on ice play. Go win a 3rd…. Depending where you go

Edit 2 : cause it was bothering me.

Zegras - Leo - Terry
Cutter - McT - Colangelo
Vats - Strome - Killorn
Nesty - Gaucher / Judd - Harkins
Johnston

LaCombe - Trouba
Minty - Gudas
Zelly - Helleson

If the locker room is truly building an organization of accountability. With big pay checks coming to Vats / Strome / Killorn, and with hopeful transparency about our plan to try this if underlining stats are awful and we stop stealing games with amazing goaltending.

Maybe that’s why we got a leadership group that had a ton of playoff experience. Team before self. A lesson your veteran leadership group needs to give to your younger stars. Humility in a reduced role. (Sacrifice self, for team)

I will legit be pissed if we don’t do something soon and give the young kids a chance. I understand if Verbeek doesn’t think they are physically mature enough to do it the final 35 ish games, and plans to do the final 20 (or a 1/4) of the season.

I feel WE the fan base deserve it, and I believe our young players haven’t really taken the reigns. But our vets aren’t doing shit with it. A smart organization would take stock of the young talent at this stage of the rebuild.

Edit : I just looked at the schedule. If Z is ready Tuesday which I think it pretty close to the 6 week mark. We play the reigning Stanley Cup champions after getting shutout on the road against them. Then Pitt / Nash / Sea / Calgary. Plus 2 days of practice and a morning skate.

This is kinda the perfect time to do this.

Another edit : I’m losing my mind, but it would also if by some miracle our young kids are ready and we look good, you have enough time to add at the deadline. Which would be a nice treat for us fans.
