Speculation: 2024-25 - Free Agency/Trade Thread

I wonder if farabee would be available? He's making $5 million a year for a few more years, only six goals and 14 points in 42 games after scoring 22 goals and 50 points last season. Maybe a buy-low candidate?

Bit of a risk, but that's kind of where we are at when trying to upgrade our forward talent. No sure-thing guys are going to be available at prices we should be paying, and farabee is only 24.
He seems to stick up for teammates and drops the gloves when needed too ( he’s not a very good fighter ) but verbeek will love that he sticks up for teammates and drops em, he can score goals too. He’s another left shot, and he’s not very big. But I definitely like the idea of adding a player who can score and is age appropriate over another draft pick ( unless someone like tkachuk or necas becomes available) then we could use all the draft capital we can get I suppose

I don't think there's a chance we'd get Farabee in a Gibson trade without adding. He's as solid as a middle 6 winger as they come. He'd be our second best winger after Terry.
Phillys goalies have been awful…. Depends how desperate Philly is.

Just an idea tho, would be a decent forward target that could be plausible for Gibson

Flyers are 2 points out of dead last in the east and are way more than a Gibson from contending this season. Can't see any deal there unless it happens over the summer.

There have been rumors for years about Carolina's interest. Probably a perfect situation for Gibson with the way they play. I think he ends up there.

I wonder if we are on Freddys (15 team) no trade list. That seems like a possible sticking point. Maybe they can dump him to another team but thats 3.4 million and is going to have a price to dump. Need to take that into account regarding them acquiring Gibson.

Carolina has historically never paid a high price to acquire players. I think we'd all be very disappointed in the return if Gibson was traded there. But I can't see Verbeek lowering his price and I can't see Carolina paying his price.

They probably also know that bit are likely also not willing to meet PVs price

His issue has been health, right? I thought he was doing good when he was in. A team that loses out on Gibson might take him as a free asset (assuming he's a UFA after the year, I haven't checked his contract) and hope he's healthy by playoffs.

I'm tired of missing playoffs, unless the trade has a good chance of being a good piece in the future, I'd rather hang on to good players and Gibson has been good this year. This is unless Gibson really wants out. Trade Fabbri and Dumo, we have Colangelo and Minty/Zell as internal replacements. Maybe add a free #7 D that's a pending UFA.

Vatrano Strome Terry
Gauthier McTavish Killorn
Zegras Carlsson Colangelo
Harkins/McGinn Lundestrom Leason (or move Lundy to wing and try Gaucher)

LaCombe Gudas
Mintyukov Trouba
Zellweger Helleson

Dostal/Gibson

Gives the Ducks a chance to see what they need to add this summer.

That Zegras-Carlsson-Colangelo line would be fun. Doubt Cronin tries it but we can all dream.

Yeah, Killorn isn't the style of player that Carlsson is good with... but half a season and he hasn't realized it. It's going to take Killorn missing games for him to realize it (even that may not work).
