There’s probably a lot of truth to thisYou don’t trade for guys like Petersson with a Cronin coaching your team. Here in the doghouse and wouldn’t produce like everyone expects.

This trade is made under the idea that Cronin will be gone at seasons end at the latestYou don’t trade for guys like Petersson with a Cronin coaching your team. Here in the doghouse and wouldn’t produce like everyone expects.
huh, interesting way to announce an extension. curious what the cap hit is, but im fine with him sticking around. it is nice to have someone who does want to be here
I’m not assuming that Cronin will be gone at season’s end. Or that Verbeek will hire an offensively focused coach. This trade is made under the idea that Cronin will be gone at seasons end at the latest
Maybe I’m wrong but isn’t Pettersson actually decent defensivelyI’m not assuming that Cronin will be gone at season’s end. Or that Verbeek will hire an offensively focused coach.
I would grab him and see if we could spark something with him. Prob worth it…. Worst case is he doesn’t work out…. Best case is he works out and we can get value on himSooo…Kaliyev?
That's what I've heard as well. The issue for me is the rift seems to be from Miller being hard on Pettersson. If it affects him this much how would Cronins coaching style affect him.Maybe I’m wrong but isn’t Pettersson actually decent defensively
Not selke lvl guy, but good enough

He doesn’t seem like a PV/Cronin player at all, a shot without much else and incredibly questionable hockey senseSooo…Kaliyev?
I think no matter what. Verbeek overpays for proven bottom 6 players. The kind that score 10-15 goals a season and play hard. Harkens, lundestrom, mcginn all guys we upgrade on this off-season through free agency is my guess.I would rather have kayliev as a pure PP specialist than Johnston or Harkins in the lineup.
Why thoYou have to pick up kaliyev
No thanks. I don’t think he’s really a good player. You have to pick up kaliyev
Because our PP is anemic, and that’s his skill. He can’t be any worse than Johnston in the games where there’s no heavyweight to hug off the ice.Why tho

This reminds me that Johnston is signed through the end of NEXT season and makes me question Verbeek’s ophthalmologist.
Rantanen is the clear best option. But I don't think he'll become a UFA and if he does, what are the ducks chances to sign him? Seemingly not great.I don't want Miller or Pettersson. Both will cost way too much and don't make sense for the team composition. I don't think either is in the tier to push the big trade chips for.
Would rather throw money at Marner or Rantanen in the off-season. If it was someone on the Tkachuk or Tage Thompson tier, that's a different story. A game breaking offensive forward would be huge for this team.
My issue with Pettersson is mostly the cost
I do think if you get Pettersson, zegras is the guy going the other way(Pettersson is essentially what we hope zegras will be)…. But I don’t want to add our 1st to zegras.
Something like
Zegras/mctacish + 2nd + dioncicio/hinds
Is kinda where my mind is in terms of trade. If they want a center, mctavish and zegras are prob top 2 optiosn and maybe cozens
Not really interested in putting zegras or mctacish with our 1st, nor do I want to move lacomb, zellweger, Mintyukov, Luneau or solberg
Z for EP makes the most sense to me. I don't know if I'd trade McTavish . . . but I might. Either way, I don't think the ducks are adding a first. That would be an overpay IMO.
