I don’t understand this point of view.

We aren’t making the playoffs without Fowler. Missing an extra 5-10 games each won’t kill the development of the youngsters. Getting stuck with a returning Cap dump will block either the same or different youngsters. Returning anything but a high 1st will be relevant right about 2030.

There’s nothing involving Fowler being there or not being there that’s going to make this collection of forwards score enough to beat the type of schedule we have remaining.

I’m not saying he’s playing great (although he was as good Monday as he was bad yesterday), but I don’t see anything that needs to be addressed “immediately” on this team outside of the coaching staff.
It won't kill their development but it's not helping it either. Fowler is also ready to get out of here by all accounts. It's best for everyone involved if the team finds a resolution here as soon as possible. I won't go to the extent of some and act like I hate him or anything, nor will I be particularly upset if they go past the deadline without moving him, but I don't see how it can be argued keeping him around is anyone's best interest either.

Cozens - turns 24 in Feb. Signed for 5 more years at 7.1M. 13 points in 29 games this year, career high 31G 68P in 79 games.

McTavish - turns 22 in Jan, impending RFA. 11 points in 21 games this year, career best (in terms of ppg) was 42 points in 64 games last year.

Have seen Cozens name thrown out there, not sure if there's anything more to it than the crap we see about our guys. But general speaking, does the above base interest you guys?

I don’t hate Cozens, but he just feels similar to McTavish but older. Dobson is another guy I’d think about. NYI has Pulock and Mayfield locked in at RHD and their 2C Nelson is going to leave in free agency (if not a trade).

I don't think getting older is the play unless it's for someone like Tkachuk.

I just don't see enough that would indicate this team will be a playoff team at any point in Cozens 5 year deal and even if they get there will they actually be competitive or will they just be a bye in the first like the kings are

It's likely the largest concern I'd have with the idea yeah. Five years is probably the minimum amount of cost control we'd need before I'd consider moving a key young player. So this becomes borderline in that sense, and one really has to be convinced we would win the player end of the deal.

I think keeping him around to see if he can gel enough with Trouba to create a better return outweighs a few games of the kids sitting, and I think the FOWLER IS A CANCER (not saying this is you) agenda is a special kind of hysteria.

Again, not saying he’s good. But people acting like the second deflection off his stick was anything but bad luck are just showing an agenda.

Yeah Fowler has not played well, but he is far from the only issue with this team.

Ideal for us to do it sooner, yes.

However you have to consider it from the side of a playoff team ... If they carved out a little cap space, they can use it now, or let it accrue until later and be able to acquire several players instead of of just one.

It's to their advantage to wait as long as they can, without waiting so long that they miss out on the guys they want.

There's a possible human side to why these latest games seem like some of his worst ever. It's easy to forget about these things as fans and some will still dismiss them or insist they are a reason for further criticism of his character - but I would totally understand if his mental game is completely f***ed right now based on the situation at hand. He's been here fifteen years and it's got to be downright weird having his foot seemingly halfway out the door right now.

Weve already kept him around long enough.... its time to move on from gibson and fowler.

People claim you dont want to see the team without fowler.... as we trend towards our 4th top 3 pick in a row.

Who says I don’t want to see the team without Fowler? Moving on should legitimately make the team better though, and no, I do not buy the addition by subtraction that’s being sold as the reason. Nor do I think that retaining years of Gibson to get back a 2nd makes a lick of sense.

Lol at us not getting that pick regardless, and that reality not being because of the failings of Verbeek and Cronin.

You do realize that you’re simply not credible on Fowler, right? You’ve been willing to trade him for scraps for literally years.

If anything that makes me the most credible…. I saw his downfall coming way before any of you
