2023-24 rankings
Avon has a good shot at a 4th line forechecker.
Bjarnason and Kolosov have a shot of making the NHL.

No sure anyone else left off the list has a shot, Wisdom really regressed, Gendron is only 20 starting the AHL season, so he's worth keeping an eye on, as much of a shot as Pautov.

Michkov of course, Bonk and Luchanko are the cream of the crop.
The rest are middle six/bottom six, bottom 3 D-men at best, but there is depth behind a young roster.
But that's the norm for most teams, someone like Michkov will graduate quickly.

From 4-21:
(4) 2nd rd picks [Andrae, Tuomaala, Berglund, Gill]
(4) 3rd rd picks [Barkey, Attard, Kaplan, Zavragin]
(2) 4th rd picks [Ciernik, Rhohonen]
(4) 5th rd picks [Bump, Desnoyers, Sotheran, Powell]
(2) 6th rd picks [Pautov, McDonald
(2) 7th rd picks [Rizzo, McLaughlin]

Off the list:
(3) 2nd rd picks [Bjarnason, Ginning, Grans]

As ever, Deady, you are so much more optimistic than I am. I hope you're right, but man, that list looks like 5 NHLers and a bunch of "well, if everything breaks exactly right, maybe they get more than a cup of coffee in Philly."

One day his optimism will completely fail.

Most of your picks outside the 1st rd are going to be bottom six/bottom three at best, otherwise they would have been drafted higher.

But you need a steady stream of these guys. Most teams have 6 forwards and 3 D-men who score at a top six/top 4 rate - the rest of the roster is either prospects or veterans. Good teams have the organizational depth to have above replacement level players in those roles, down to a few in the AHL who can be promoted in case of injury.

People who think your 9th forward should be scoring 30+ points a year at ES playing 12 minutes a night are living in fantasy land. If he can get you 20+ points and above average defense, you're doing well.

Cutter would’ve really made a difference in my confidence level of our prospect pool. Another top 10 prospect in all of hockey with Mich?

What a crusher that situation turned out to be.

So,
1 probable star
2 above average players
1-4 average players
13-16 guys who will be looking for new careers in a few years

You have to be Philadelphia Flyers special to miss the playoffs 4 years running and have the above to show for it.

A top 3 of Michkov, Cutter, Buium would be light years ahead of what we have now.

It’s more than that If Cutter stays, they likely draft Buium as there’s no agent and NCAA hesitation - and they would have a ‘C’ then gotten the D.

3 top 10 prospects.

Can anyone post your AHL summaries from the last 5 years on who you thought will be in the NHL and what not. Love to see where projections ended up.

Their prospect pool is just well not good. Outside of MM just 2 players fans should have somewhat high hopes for.
