I don’t think I would have any desire to play on what is essentially a barnstorming exhibition team… Until the point hockey becomes about beer I feel I’d want to be chasing something , be it playoffs , a championship etc … Hell I have a hard time playing pickup hockey because they don’t have a score board

I would think that players would want at least what ACHA teams like Minot State have. An exhibition season followed by regionals then nationals.

The BCIHL generally includes all non-conference games for all teams. They finally updated their schedule link from 2023-24, however it only goes to Sept 20th. The only new game is Okanagan at SAIT of the ACAC on Sept 20th. One would think at least one more tour game will be added to that roadtrip.

This is just in keeping with SFU being an absolute tire fire when it comes to athletics.

The BCIHL released their full schedule, with exhibition games. I included the full list of exhibition games here. Most are inter-conference. This includes Simon Fraser’s BCIHL roster, not their travelling non-conference roster.

Western has added their pre-season / exhibition sched. You have them all except an Oct 17 game against Team China.

It seems like there are fewer games against NCAA schools this year than in past years, or maybe it's a similar number to past years but these games are concentrated among SFU and to a lesser degree Manitoba. What I'm wondering is whether SFU took up most of the slots (my understanding is that NCAA schools are only permitted to play one game) thereby eliminating the option of a game against an NCAA school for some Canadian-based schools....or if it's intentional among more Usports teams than in prior years to play their exhibition games against other Canadian-based (and mostly own-conference) opponents. I know there is a team-building element to taking a roadtrip down south, but so many of these games are so one-sided that it probably makes sense for most schools to play more competitive games at home.

A strange thing with Western's schedule this year is they travelling to Ottawa for a single game with Carleton on Nov 3, to Montreal for a single game with Concordia on Nov 16, and then back to Ottawa on Feb 7 for a single game with Ottawa. Doesn't make a lot of sense...normally they'd do this in two trips and bundle Ontario Tech (also a single game trip) in with one of them.

Interesting that they are going to Halifax just for the one game. Same with Ontario Tech coming to UNB. Usually, teams try to get back to back games on these long trips.
