2024 25 Europa League Conference League Knockout Stage

Should be Onana's last game for United. f***ing clown.

Both teams missed good chances.
Bayindir ain't much better. Literally made the Spurs look like Barcelona in the Carabao Cup. The Spurs... Only thing he has on Onana is height. Freezes on his line and is even worse with his feet.

We are taught to punch those out, pretty sure he tried to catch but ill need another look. Not that I will bother its fairly obvious Onana is garbage.
I'm not sure a true punch would have worked, but you have to have enough wrist control and situational awareness to put it out to the side rather than right back to the opposition.

TNT Sports commentary went from "Great save Onana!" to "Another goalkeeping error from Onana" within a minute.

Biggest issue was once again game management. United just kept gifting the ball away before the equalizer.

Onana looks like an outfield player that has to go in goal when the keeper gets injured/sent off and you can't make any more substitutions.

Took a look again it’s on the ground he has to control that ball. It went right to him

It was a hard low shot from from close range, basically from the penalty spot. Not so easy.
It’s definitely not easy when you suck but to play for a team like united you should be making it an easy save. In fact it’s very easy.

Not a bad result for United, even with the mistakes, they should be the favourites for their series. Spurs, on the other hand, yikes. Ange keeps resting their starters the last entire month...for exactly what? Drawing against a mid-table BuLi club who now have the home field advantage? Spurs ain't getting a result having to play in a stadium against that crowd.

I don't see United as favorites in the return leg.
It will be close again. Fofana coming back will be a huge problem for them (provided he does come back like scheduled).
Lyon couldn't play vertically yesterday.

It’s not easy, but it’s something that should be within the toolbox of a keeper playing at a club if United’s size.

His fundamentals (positioning, movement, body control) are really awful. Sometimes he can make up for them, but it’s the source of a decent number of his goals against, including both yesterday.

All this Onana talk has diverted from two points though: the original shot from the penalty spot shouldn't have been allowed (coverage?) and why no one covered the rebound. I mean we're on a hockey site and the latter is always the one that sticks out on the goals United allow far often.

Shots happen and get through. That's the whole point of a goalkeeper. And yes, we are on a hockey site. Talking about rebound control when it comes to goalkeepers should be second nature.

Both things can be true, the defense played it poorly and allowed a shot. But that doesn't mean Onana doesn't play that shot horribly.
