2024 25 Europa League Conference League Knockout Stage

Whoa, Mainoo for Garnacho.

Jesus fecking christ, TNT Sports guys asking why Maguire was sent and asking if anyone's asked Amorim why he takes Maguire off. HE LITERALLY RETURNED FROM A GROIN INJURY and Amorim said on Sunday they're managing his minutes so the injury doesn't aggravate again.

They have been really bad but their two vertical threats are injured (Nuamah and Fofana). But yes this Lyon team is not very good. It's Cherki and some moments from Mikautadze. Not much else.
Today they didn’t deserve to lose

No only did he not knock the shot away, instead of diving towards the ball to either get it he decided to waddle out trying to be big and give the attacker a ton of time to chip over him.
I'm kinda with Scholesy, not blaming him for that one AS MUCH. Low hard shot from inside the box not the easiest to stop.

And this is why non-goalkeepers shouldn't comment on goalkeeping. It wasn't that difficult of an initial save. If it had been, Onana wouldn't have had the time to get down the way he did. In fact, it might have been better for him to make a kick save rather than do what he did, but getting your hands behind the ball is typically the right decision.

Once he got in that position, he either needs to have soft enough hands to hold onto the initial shot or have it stay pretty much right in front of him. It should be easy because your chest should be over the ball when making the save. If you're not going to do that, then you need to have strong enough wrists and rebound control to push it wide. He did neither.

Once the ball squirts out, you need to attack it immediately. He wasn't able to do this because he was off balance for some reason so he wasn't able to immediately transition into a dive. Instead he stood up and again, instead of attacking the ball, waddled (great description @hatterson) toward the ball.

Just poor all around. Like don't get me wrong, it's not necessarily easy, but it's the fundamentals that are the issue.
