2024-25 EPL Season

I don't like like them (check Keir Starmer's Facebook, he's starting to sound like you know who regarding immigration) but they're still better than the alternative in my book. And making billionaires poorer is doing god's work :D
One billionaire getting poorer just means another one is getting richer. It's certainly never going to our lot.

So now that the cup finals are set here's how European spots will be determined.

1-5 + United/Spurs - Champions league
6 + Palace - Europa league
7 - Conference

7th will always be conference since if Newcastle is 1-6 then their carabao cup conference league spot will drop down and if they're 7th then they get the spot based on their carabao win and they can't finish lower than 7th.

Edit: Nevermind forgot about Chelsea potentially throwing a wrench into things if they win the conference league.

Is there no scenario where Chelsea’s Conference League final enters the mix?

Is it still possible for Chelsea to finish 7th in the league and win the conference league, so they'll be in the Europe League next season in that case?

I'll be honest, I forgot that was happening.

If Chelsea win the conference league then things can change depending on both where they and Newcastle finish.

If Chelsea finish in the top 5, then them winning conference doesn't matter. If they finish lower then it can get a little messy and there's even a scenario where 8th can suddenly be eligible for Conference league next year which would mean Brentford, Brighton, and Bournemouth could enter the final matchweek with Europe as a possibility.

Results tomorrow will help narrow it down.

As the league final matchday is before the Conference League final, a club finishing 8th might not know whether they made Europe or not (depending where Chelsea finished in the league).

Alas, there must be a lower ranked league and one of its' clubs somewhere in Europe waiting for Chelsea's results to determine whether they get to play in the Conference league or not next season (maybe in qualification rounds?).

Well if Chelsea finish 1-6 then them winning the conference league doesn’t matter for 8th place. So if Forest can’t get a win tomorrow then 8th won’t have a chance at conference since Chelsea couldn’t finish below Forest.

I mean, Chelsea should. A billion-pound team should be able to beat the likes of Real Betis.

What a hilarious year, Arsenal go trophyless and ManU/Spurs/Chelsea have all been pure trash, but two of the three have a chance at a trophy lol. It's all for Johnstone Paint level of Trophies, but that's how it goes sometimes, I guess.

United and Spurs are lucky they had these down seasons when the recently promoted sides ended up being total shite, teams have been regulated with 38+ points before
Points of 18th place team the last decade:

26, 34, 35, 28, 34, 34, 33, 34, 37, 35

2021-2022 would be the only year when going into MW 38 a team with 38 points wouldn't have been guaranteed safe (in the other 37 and 35 years, the teams earned points in the final week to get to those totals, so had no chance to get to 38 or higher) and even in that year, the relegated team had a -19 goal difference so Spurs would have been safe on GD even if that team had won MW38 that year.

It’s not a crime to be more consistent than your opponents. If you fall off the earth you don’t deserve anything
I don't disagree, but my original point is if you're spending billions, you should be in the title race every single f***ing year. Them barely making CL spot is a failure of a season if I were a blood money fan, which is why I initially said "trash."

In the case of Forest, how much is their wage structure compared to Chelsea's? Even spending money, you'll eventually hit talent as @Savant has mentioned in the past. Of course, they should be passing the likes of Forest in the table, but some of that credit is due to Forest falling off after being there for a considerable amount of time. They ain't losing games against the big six, they dropped points against Leicester, Everton, Brentford at home, and Fulham.

That literally wasn’t your original point, that’s where you dragged the goalposts

My exact post responding to you mentioned the word billions. My entire discussion is on the premise that if you're spending billions, you need to be title contenders. Anything less than that is a pure trash club IMHO. I would use the same criteria for every other club, including Arsenal, it's just Chelsea is that stupid to spend that much money.

Every time I think you’ve hit maximum obtuseness…

Your post *responding to me* is where you dragged the goalposts. “Responding to you” should maybe be your giveaway on that! It is not where things started!

“Spending a billion” and “Forest have been inconsistent” both have ZERO BEARING on “Chelsea have been pure trash” when “pure trash” Chelsea were (at time of posting) two points behind Arsenal.

When the contention is that “they have been pure trash” (see: your OP) and their “pure trash” is only two points behind Arsenal (see: my response), your conception of what Chelsea “should be” (see: your response) does not actually refute the point, which is that Chelsea’s “pure trash” is pretty damn close to where Arsenal are!

It might be too much to ask of you (of all posters here) to incorporate a modicum of logic into your posting, but yeesh.
