Prospect Info: 2024-25 Ducks Prospects

That was a great read!

I found the answers between Solberg and Dionicio being tactful and politically correct to show the best side of their prospects. Madden doesn't like how Farjestad treated Solberg, but simultaneously citing that going back home to Switzerland was best for Dionicio. Both were hot heads during the season with their respective teams, except Farjestad still wanted to keep Solberg around as they went into the SHL playoffs.

Clara was also with Farjestad. Madden praised the Farjestad org in developing him prior to this season. This season, Clara was inconsistent and Madden couldn't put a finger on what exactly went wrong. Maybe the level of competition was stronger in the SHL than in HockeyAllsvenskan.

Pastujov's recounting is odd. Madden said Pasta worked hard during the summer, but that work result didn't show during camp. Maybe it took a while for Pasta to get into hockey shape instead of body building and skate improvement environ? Did the dev team misdiagnose Pastra incorrectly? Pasta tore up the ECHL quickly and it translated to the AHL. Something isn't adding up with the Pasta situation, but great on him to persevere.

Gaucher is made out of glass. Nico was rushed to the AHL. Petterson was screwed over (which I've shared often about his misuse) by Modo. Sidorov needs to adapt his offense to pro game b/c he got rocked trying junior tactics offensively; needs to get faster and play defense. Tarin Smith grew an inch since his draft, making him 6'3; he also is still a long term project.

It's interesting how bullish Madden was about sennecke playing in the NHL next season. I wasn't expecting that level of optimism.
I guess that means he sees Sennecke's skill, IQ and speed being enough to somewhat overcome his lack of muscle/strength, if he skates fast like he does and uses his long reach to get to pucks he could get more than 9 games in the NHL and then be sent back to OHL. Use the experience in the NHL as a motivating factor for him to improve building up stronger.

I think I'm among the minority, but I think Sennecke can and should play in the NHL next season. With his style of game, I'm not sure juniors has much left to teach him (and could actually put some bad habits into his game). I know he could use some size and strength, but that will come. He'd hardly be the first kid to come up with a bit more filling out to do. He'd be the first #3 pick since Dylan Strome (and Strome is one of the only ones in the cap era) not to play his D+2 season in the NHL.

I'd love to see him up. I think he could develop well in the NHL and, barring other moves, the Ducks could use him.

As far as top3 picks go, #2 in 2005 Bobby Ryan took 2 years to arrive in the 07-08 season but only played 23 games.
However Bobby didn't have anywhere near the skating level of Sennecke. He was slow if I remember correctly.

A really good and an informative article.

Only thing what I miss was that, what Madden things about Ethan Procyszyn. He did well at OHL's Coaches Poll.

Procyszyn
Hardest worker, tied for 3rd (Eastern Conf)
Best Facecoffs, 1st (EasternConf)
Best Defensive Forward, 2nd (Eastern Conf)

Sounds like a future shutdown center!

As for the 2025 draftees, I'm beginning to see why O'Brien rose into the top-10 from the teens. He ranked in the top-3 for Smartest Player, Best Playmaker, and Best Stickhandler. C Jack Nesbitt was rated 1st in Western Conference most improved player.

O'Brien as a 6'2 height version of Zegras with that vision is hard to pass up for teams picking #4 to #8 depending on who's available for each of them.

The coasting on defense in a playoff game is alarming. I'm hoping that can be cured by NHL coaching.

He clearly has a ton of potential in the rest of his game.
I think in most cases he tried but London was just too good. But that one GA was clearly on Beckett coasting. Not sure, maybe he was gassed but it more looks like he does have some tendency that I hope he can improve

Those were exactly the things I noticed when I watched the game live. I was pretty shocked and was hoping that was an anomaly and not a facet of his normal game. Do that a couple of times in the NHL and you’re in the press box. more than that you’re riding buses in the A.

I don't think Sennecke had a great regular season - i'd say it was good but not great - and to be honest i was expecting a little more production. He seems to have played very well overall in the playoffs, though which is great to see.

Cutter did the same thing in college, and he’s never seemed to not have good effort in the NHL.

That's fair. If you're viewing him as a 3rd overall, he didn't blow the lid off during the regular season.

I had a different take on Sennecke. I just wanted him to prove that the 2nd half of his D+0 season wasn't a fluke. He proved it wasn't and did improve his scoring rate. Beckett went ballastic when team Canada snubbed him. He scored 2.80 ppg rate in early December (2 week production) and the following two weeks, he put up 2.14 ppg. That four week span production: 13 games, 11g + 18a = 29 pts!

Therein lies the problem. How do we get him to play with his hair on fire all the time in the regular season? Good thing is that his production increases during the playoffs, including goal scoring.

Forget the regular season, I'd be happy if he turned it on for that playoffs... the anti-Marner is fine by me.

I heard Solberg is getting a lot of attention these days, it looks like he's one of the more interesting names around the hockey world right now.

I was thinking...is there a chance some team comes up with a nice offer, and he gets traded? I hope not. Solberg is a Duck now, he doesn't want to move again.
