Prospect Info: 2024-25 Ducks Prospects

When Sennecke is playing aggressive and physical, which is almost every game now, there isn't a better or more talented player in the OHL

And the D he's dominating this series are 1st rounder Kashawn Aitcheson, 2nd rounder Tristan Bertucci, 2nd rounder Beau Akey, 2nd rounder Gabriel Eliasson and the "shutdown line" against his line include 1st rounder Cole Beaudoin and 1st rounder Emil Hemming

OMGoodness, I love this move for Darels! He has spent the past two seasons with AIK J20 club and became a top dawg this past season. Darels doesn't turn 19 years old until this August, which means he could be stuck with the J20 club this year or be put on limited minutes as the 7th D (if not healthy scratch) with AIK in Sweden's second tier for men, HockeyAllsvenskan (HA). At the end of this season, he was finally brought up to be in one game for AIK (HA)... on the bench.

I think AIK remains in HA next year (that's how EP projects on their page) and that's a top-tier HA team. The possibility of playing meaningful minutes with AIK men's club is probably low for Uljanskis.

Going the NCAA route means the Ducks could have a developing two-way forward on their hands! Uljanskis is the 2nd highest scoring defensemen in the Sweden's J20 league this season (as I shared weeks ago to highlight his season). Darels can be playing more meaningful minutes at a high level of competition at the NCAA level than being stuck at the J20 for another season. If Uljanskis can develop his defensive side while still cultivating his offense for the next few years, then the Ducks might have a gem.

I do wonder if his signing date is pushed back a year since he has decided to go to the NCAA? It would be like a drafted prospect who decided to go to the USHL route first and then the NCAA, which would be a total of five years of retaining his rights to be signed.

Here's an article about Uljanskis after he was drafted, with an EP tracking graphic included.

The latter part was my first question when I saw this news, I wonder how it affects his deadline for signing

Honestly Sennecke is my favorite prospect in a long long time, he just plays a more exciting game. It'd be Carlsson if he didn't go straight to the NHL and lose prospect status so fast. I bet the London Knights wish Sennecke was on their team, he definitely would remind them of someone who played for them in 2003.

London will get a good first hand look at him now, both the Knights and Generals swept their conference finals and will now meet for the J. Ross Robertson Cup (OHL Championship)

He could average 4 ppg and some would still question the pick. It is what it is, he's gonna have to blow up in the NHL before the questions stop.
I wanted Demidov at the draft and I'm 100% at peace with this pick even after the amazing year Demidov had.

PV is clearly trying to build an identity with this team and Sennecke is basically the exact identity he wants, and it comes in the form of an elite skilled player.

He will likely always be hailed as the wrong pick because we passed on Demidov and Demidov is going to get the Montreal hype. We need to just get used to that.
