Prospect Info: 2024-25 Ducks Prospects

Black Aces coming over to the Gulls is a sight that the org is relieved to see. Is there enough runway to eek into the AHL playoffs?
Proscyzn is interesting prospect… played on a not great team with not a lot of help around him.

Showed some offense, big body, physical with a big shot …. Hopefully we can develop him into a bottom 6 piece

That OHL coach poll thing showed he was voted best defensive forward He was the only great player on his team, it's like he dragged them to the playoffs.

Ya there is only 1 drafted player on the roster…. Very weak roster

Yeah they were built to go on a run last year and then were hit by graduations before selling off for a rebuild. Have traded their other three NHL picks since the end of last season. They'll be better next year, but could see them selling off Pro by next deadline if they aren't yet in the contending mix.

I haven't done the prospect update in a long minute, but I want to highlight 2024, 7th round pick, LD Darels Uljanskis. He's 6'2 and a 194 lbs Latvian playing in Sweden's J20 Nationell league for AIK20. He finished AIK20 with 39 points (2nd on team) and 9 goals (7th on team). What is surprising is in the J20 Nationell league for defensemen, Uljanskis finished 2nd in scoring and 5th in goal scoring.

Anaheim might have found another later round defensive gem. Darels doesn't turn 19 until Aug. The Ducks can 'draft and stash' him for the next three years.

AIK are playing in the Swedish 2nd tier next season as well, and only have two non-Junior defencemen signed for next season so far. Granted you'd expect them to make more signings, but might have a decent chance at cracking into the senior team and playing some games.

I was impressed during development camp. Kid can really skate, good to hear he’s rewarding the faith.

This franchise is a LHD factory.

My only viewings of Uljanskis were at the U20 tournament on TV but he was really rough in those games. Defensively a mess and his skating was average at best. Sounds like he was much better in league play but I definitely put him in the longshot category after that tournament.

This is in line with what I saw at that tournament as well.

Lucas Pettersson has a contract with MoD through to the end of 26/27 season, so he'll be with them in the second tier next season.

Also, I wonder if Traff is someone we should be keeping an eye on? Big bodied 19 year old winger, put up 7 points in 25 games in the SHL and 6 points in 9 games in the 2nd tier in Sweden. He's signed through to the end of next season with HV71 in the SHL. Could end up being a handy piece from the Dumo trade.

Honestly, that might not be a bad thing for Pettersson. Let the guy cook and develop his offensive game.
1 more year in Allsvenskan, 1 year in the SHL (assuming they get promoted), then AHL after his SHL contract is up.

Traff imo was a low key great pick up… that Dumo trade was a big win for PV

A 2nd was a win for me, but getting a prospect traff was a murder.

I think traff is nhl talent…. Prob tops off as a bottom 6, but I think he plays the way a lot of us want in our bottom 6

Very interested to see how
Proscyzn, masse, traff, gaucher, and burnevik turn out

The hope is Modo makes room for him on their roster for next season b/c Lucas has been thoroughly slapped around like Hulk introducing the puny god to concrete several times between three teams and three leagues all last season. Lucas has shown he is a scoring force in HA (Sweden's mens 2nd tier) when given ample minutes to play and was Ostersunds best scorer in only 29 games.

I totally forgot we got Traff. He's a year older than Lucas despite being drafted in the same draft year (i.e. overager). He could be a slow burn type of prospect. Love his size.

Edit: Traff is just four months older than Lucas. Thanks, @GunnarStahl

Traff isn't an overager in the sense of the draft, he was a first time eligible. He is however a birth year ahead of Pettersson. Is that what you meant?

Oh shit. Yeah, you're absolutely correct. I just saw birth year and not acknowledge the month of their birth. Traff is only 4 months older than Lucas.

I'm aloof today. My bad. My mind was telling me, "Isn't a 3rd round pick kinda high for an overager?" when I writing it.

I know this isn't the right place to ask, but I couldn't find the thread, I know Moore was signed to an ATO, but did we ever sign him to an actual contract?
I apologize if it's been covered, I just missed it and I tried looking for it.

Edit: grammar

In that case interesting to compare that Wild Bill had a PPG lace in Allsvenskan (2nd league) and Traff while in a way smaller sample size, had 6 in 9 games which is less but still good IMO. Spending the rest of the year in SHL is probably because his size allowed it, but something Wild Bill didn't achieve in D+1.
A really inteiguing prospect.

Not yet, which gives me some cause for concern. We are playing Kylington at the NHL level because of the Trouba injury. Would have been a good time to get those NHL games in for Moore, so he can burn the first year of his ELC.

I suppose it's possible the plan was laid out when he signed his ATO that he would play in San Diego until the last couple games of the NHL season.

The org is running the same "scheme" like they did with Colangelo last year. Signed to an ATO and then signed an ELC to play a few games with the Ducks. With the Trouba injury, I don't see why the org couldn't already have signed Moore to an ELC already and brought him up. There isn't a roster limitation and we're under the cap by a long mile. Some weird nickle and diming maybe?

I don't like this "scheme" tbh.

Yeah, not sure what the deal is with this.

We've been heavily under the cap for years now with a mega multi billionaire owner, and outside of trying to mitigate financial impact I don't see what other positives this sort of thing offers.
