Honestly, either he has serious issues and there is a lot going on behind the scene, or the coach is an asshat. The ups and downs between him and the coach have been crazy.

We really can't criticize considering we shipped Dionicio from the AHL to Switzerland due to serious issues/a lot going on behind the scene. Both Solberg and Dionicio have to be reined with going overboard in games.

Solberg is fine, he just wants to play hard and the coach doesn't like it. You know the SHL.

The kid doesn't take many penalties, he plays smart while using his size and strength to play a lot of shoulder on shoulder hockey, knocking guys off the puck, some pushing and shoving or a face wash. Nothing wrong with that.

To me Solberg is born to play NA hockey, I think it'll be fun to watch him play for the Ducks.

Clara pitches a 23-save SO in a 3-0 win today. The change has done him good although I'm not sure if he's just more mentally dialed in or the level of competition in Liiga is lower than the SEL...maybe a bit of both.

Face washing and spitting are in different universes of issues.

If a face wash was Solberg's only infraction this year, then it would be different issues. Solberg kept beating down on a player that was already down on the ice earlier in the season, which the team suspended him for a few games as his first excessive incident. The SHL has the right to protect all of its players and the teams see it that way too. Since then, the team has to control Solberg's excess actions as well as develop him into a two-way D. When Solberg does play controlled, then his development shines.

Solberg isn't a fourth line banger who plays 5 to 8 minutes in a game. He's a defenseman who will probably play 15-17 minutes as a 3rd pairing and 20 minutes or more as a top-4D. Losing your d-man on the ice and creating a penalty for your team unnecessarily isn't helping the team.

I agree Solberg's game is made for NA hockey, but don't gloss over his infractions as well as re-write history that the coaches don't like Solberg's hard play. They loved Solberg's hitting until he went overboard on a downed player. Even you acknowledged this earlier in the season and it was wrong thing for Solberg to do. Since then, they want him to play hard against, develop into a two-way D, and want him to stop with unnecessary and uncontrolled excessive antics in the SHL.

It's not my fault you're pushing a wrong history at my expense because you were ignorant of the facts. Is a facewash the same as continually beating down on a downed player? I am not surprised that you didn't acknowledge you pushed a wrong history either, but then try to minimized the overt excess action that spitting is worse than continually beating down a player already down on the ice. Does spitting cause potential concussion, broken orbital(s), cuts, bruises, or the inability to play hockey ever gain?

Both overt excess actions aren't necessary and reveals a lack of self control. Both have no place in hockey.

There's a reason why they called Solberg the most violent man in the draft. He plays this aggressive style of hockey, and sometimes it's too much for his coach. They're trying to slow him down by awarding him some top pairing minutes, hoping he'll be a good boy. But it doesn't work that way, Solberg is who he is. He didn't come cheap for the Ducks, a 1st and a 2nd. But they'll get what they want, a big physical defenseman who also plays well.

So should we punish someone who runs a stop sign the same as a guy who has a DUI just because the guy who ran the stop sign has a history of speeding, but served his punishment for that? Solberg served his punishment with the team for hitting the downed player, but if he’s going to get punished for mundane hockey scrums (face wash) then he needs to get the f*** away from that coach, or league if they are all going to try to neuter him.

And even with all that in mind, spitting is still in a different universe and a laughable comparison by you to say we can’t criticize.
