Ya, he gone.

No reason to sign with Anaheim. They suck, and he is blocked by vets and other prospects.
I'll take the other side of the bet. Harvard guys typically seem to stay all 4 years in many cases. I think he'll sign with the Ducks after the season.

If I'm a young Dman prospect (or their agent), I'm looking at the way the Ducks have treated their young Dmen this year, and would have zero interest in being added to the pile. I wouldn't blame Moore if he feels he can get more opportunity almost anywhere else.

They also leave in UFA more then anyone.

There are 11 Harvard alumn in the NHL. 8 of them played 4 years in college and 6 didnt sign with the team that drafted them.

Vesey

On the other hand, the only guy who was in the same situation as him that the Ducks signed (Lacombe) played in the NHL right away, and has never been in the minors once since.

And has also developed better than the guy who left to a different team the same year (Thrun)

Not that were some masterclass development program, but….

Huge difference in skating talents between LaCombe and Thrun, which is why LaCombe went top of the 2nd round (39th) and Thrun in the 4th round (101st). Helleson went later in the 2nd round (47th) of the same draft and he's been with the Ducks' org for the past three years. Maybe we shouldn't give too much credit for our dev program.

LaCombe being thrown into a first pairing situation as a rookie isn't any ideal form of proper development. Cronin implied that LaCombe just needed time to adapt to the speed and play at the NHL level. LaCombe's defense >>> Minty, Zell, and Luneau's as rookies. In college, LaCombe was either 1st or top-3 in shot blocking for all his four seasons with Minny. Once LaCombe adjusted to the NHL, then his offense popped at the end of last season. It was a similar progression for LaCombe at college, learn defense first and then apply offense in the second half of the season in his first couple of NCAA seasons.

I don’t think that’s 100% fair. Our blue line has been crazy healthy in terms of vets. Fowler was hurt, and all the young pups were playing. Helleson called up / Fowler came back / trade for Trouba / and no one has been hurt since.

If they me injury happened we’d be perfect, but zero happened and now we are stuck with this problem until a trade manifests for Dumo.

The difference is there was room for LaCombe to make the club in his rookie season. Minty looked promising that the org kicked Hagg to the AHL to make room for Minty in that same season.

Right now, there are two RD spots that won't be moved in Gudas and Trouba. RD Helleson is being promoted over Zell recently speaks highly of his future here. RD Luneau is probably being eyeballed for an NHL roster spot next year too. A year afterwards, Trouba should be the lone RD left safe. Moore has a slight opportunity with the Ducks next season due to his skating, but he's got a lot of obstacles ahead of him compared to LaCombe.

I agree. I was higher on LaCombe than Thrun due to the difference in athleticism.

And like I said, we’re not some masterclass in development. My point was I don’t think Moore will be looking at Anaheim as some ruiner of talent as a reason to leave
