That sucks. He will need to clean up his defensive game it seems. Before the draft I had an impression he was a two way force.
That being said I have seen him very little outside of highlights
but for the WJC snub which was BS anyways, IIRC it was said he'd not be the best choice for defensive role.

Both are highly skilled plays, the assist also required a good IQ to find his teammate. Great game by Beckett, again.

With North Bay moving romani, I wonder if procyszyn will also be on the move. Would think teams would like his size and faceoff ability.
Seems to use his reach in really creative ways.

Sennecke is on another level or two above where McTavish was an OHL prospect after being drafted #3 overall. The IQ, Playmaking, Vision, Speed, Size etc.

I don't know about that b/c Mac's D+1 season was pretty amazing. Was the youngest goal scorer in the AHL when he did it and played 9 NHL games.

Mason McTavish was chosen as captain for Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship for a very simple reason.
"He's the guy that sets the bar that everybody else is going to aspire to get to," coach Dave Cameron said. "We think we have a lot of guys that were captain material but picking 'Mac' actually was pretty easy."
McTavish, selected by the Anaheim Ducks with the No. 3 pick of the 2021 NHL Draft, began last season with three points (two goals, one assist) in nine NHL games, and after a short stint with San Diego of the American Hockey League, the 19-year-old was returned to the Ontario Hockey League. He played five games with Peterborough before being traded to Hamilton on Jan. 9. McTavish helped Hamilton win the OHL championship with 16 goals in 19 playoff games, and his eight points (six goals, two assists) in five games tied for the lead at the Memorial Cup.
Without Mac, Hamilton wouldn't be fighting in the finals for the Mem Cup.
Mac led the team to Gold and WJC-20 MVP. Mac went from being a scoring machine in the group stages to doubling up as the team's shutdown center when Grieg fell to injury at the start of the elimination games. That's how versatile and reliable Mac was in his D+1 season.
Oh yeah... Mac did make the WJC team.

McTavish is a not a late bloomer like Sennecke, he already had a much more physically developed frame and build in his draft year. He was already more filled than Zegras whom has 2 years on him.
Coach Canada having brain rot is not Sennecke's fault. Nor is it Michael Misa's (Another guy whom should have definitely made the team)
