Henry and Susan for the most part seem like good people but that doesn’t automatically make them good owners. And I hope they’re listening/following some of this stuff at least. They’re not doing what’s best for the team if not.
Should they be more willing to dole out non team friendly contracts so agents like them more?

It’s odd to see all this negative stuff coming out about the team and just dismiss it with “well I don’t care about that groups opinion so this doesn’t matter that much” over and over again. What would it take to get you to care? A veteran player coming out and demanding a trade? Some sort of misconduct (Murray-level or worse)? It shouldn’t have to get to those levels to at least care and not be encouraged about being ranked 32/32 by people who have directly dealt with the front office.

At this point there’s far too much smoke that this isn’t a wel-oiled machine. Multiple different sources (agents and players) have now ranked the organization as bottom of the barrel to deal with. That has to concern you as a fan on some level.

At some point you have to wonder about Henry and Susan. And Verbeek now obviously.

TBF to Henry and Susan, if Verbeek sold them that he had the do the Verbeekening to reset the rebuild, then they had to strap in for at least five years.

People forget that there were thoughts of team contraction or the Ducks moving to another city. Henry and Susan prevented that and embraced being in Anaheim. They created a hockey culture with buying and renovating rinks or creating new rinks so that we have hockey leagues for the kids. Also, they dragged the Pacific teams to bring their minor hockey leagues out west. Every year they're not in the playoffs, they are losing money owning the Ducks, as intimated by Susan in an interview.

It's truly asinine to think they're not good owners. They do not involve themselves with hockey operations. They relied on many other people to hire Verbeek. Be mad at Verbeek, Solomon, and Cronin. Be mad at the other people who recommended Verbeek.

As a fellow Angel fan, I'm ecstatic to know Henry and Susan aren't heavily involved in hockey ops, if any. Just across the freeway are the Los Angeles Angels... Not Anaheim Angels. Not California Angels. They are the Los Angeles Angels. Thank goodness it was shorted to that because we were the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

I don’t think they’re bad owners. My point is more that because they’re good people doesn’t automatically make them good hockey owners.

We’ll see how they handle this situation, ImO things look like they could get even worse soon.

And I don’t see the reason to constantly compare them to Arte Moreno. We need to have higher expectations for our team than literally the worst owner in professional sports

No, I don’t know how you came to that conclusion after reading my post. But that’s kinda par for the course on your schtick lately it seems.

My issue is that when you take all the things we’ve heard (Lybuschkin, Yandle, the anonymous players report, this report, etc) it doesn’t look super pretty for management or the coaching staff.

Regardless of how badly you want to bury your head in the sand and scream lalalala

Agreed. In general it’s pretty in vogue around here to be dismissive of media because people don’t like what was reported and/or the person who reported it.

You responded to a criticism of the owners by agents and said you’re hoping they’re taking notice and making changes. Agents tend to think more highly of the owners that make them more. So I don’t know what other suggestion I’m supposed to derive from that than you calling for them to overpay more to secure more money for the agents

Again, you don’t read or comprehend what I’m saying. I’m looking at this in the context of ALL the reports/public quotes we have on record about management/coaching of the Anaheim Ducks over the past 12 months. None of it is positive. I Never said anything about wishing for them to start making changes immediately. I want them to monitor the situation because it’s their team and at a certain point stuff matters

Feel free to not care about they if you wish. I’ll choose differently.

Well if you don’t think anything needs to be done about this specific complaint then it should be easy to see why people are dismissive of it. And to say “none of it is positive” completely dismisses multiple quotes made by the players currently on the roster, so I don’t know if you’re being as objective as you claim

Dude…it’s not about just this specific complaint!

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got on this one. I tried

The comments by current players can be handwaved the same way people are hand waving the comments by the agents. The players have an interest in not saying anything negative about the team so that Coach Asshole doesn't cut their ice time or whatever.

Most people put stock into one but not the other though, seems like major confirmation bias

Hey
Honestly I just love the Ducks and it pains me to see them in such a state. I believe the term fan is derived from fanatic which is defined in part as: a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal. I can't exactly explain it, but I love the team

Edit: I look forward to putting more positive vibes out there once the ship is righted
Hey and like I said your complaints are not baseless, just it looks like I may have to put my dog down soon. And in my late 30’s this is like MY first dog, and just perspective, I’m kinda just in a daze and don’t care about things, and realized things that were occupy my brain that didn’t really deserve to be, were stressing me out and life is to short to be miserable.

In terms of ducks, I’ve just always been in the enjoy the ride / assume that our MGMT is competent and hope their plan works (cause even good plans fail in sports). Makes it easier for me, although I almost had to turn off the tv watching that sabres game. That was not fun. I miss Z

Yeah this is pretty much where I’m at. I have way too much stress in my life from trying to finish my degree and get a job along with various other family/personal issues to have even the slightest amount of interest in getting upset or emotional over the Ducks which I would consider a hobby. Particularly when this season has produced a noticeably better result than anything we’ve seen recently

So instead you have interest in arguing with people on the internet who aren’t super pleased with the direction of the team?

Seems kinda odd

Surely you see the irony in calling Verbeek a one-man show while including a quote about how someone that isn't Verbeek is making things difficult lol
Perhaps I didn't state that very well. Vebeek meddles in everything and nobody actual has full autonomy when working for him. However Solomon operates, it is done with 100% approval from Verbeek. He treats those below him exactly the opposite of how Henry treats him.

“Verbeek is ridiculous. He draws lines in the sand and sticks by it irrationally,” one said.

Yes, this was an agent saying this, but I get the feeling that Verbeek might not be the most self-aware person and might not be willing to admit his mistakes easily. This also makes me think that Cronin might not be gone as soon as I wish he would.

We are in year 3 of the Verbeekening rebuild. Verbeek has been on record saying that rebuilds take at least five years until you see something. Getting upset in year 3 is premature to put it on the owner.

The reason I bring up Moreno is because he got involved in baseball operations. You are asking the owners to be "more involved" and I'm saying no they do not. They have a checkbook and a timeline given to them by the GM they hired, which was recommended by many people, including starts like Kariya, Scotty, etc...

The org has talent, but the head coach is inflexible to spur offense. Then again, Verbeek wants that to happen, but we are in the nitty gritty to notice this. The owners have other things to juggle around than just focus only on the Ducks. Those other juggling things make the finances to make up the losses by the Ducks.

People don’t need to get upset and rant over something virtually no one here can change.

Someone here may have the billions to buy out the Samuelis and become the new owner of the Ducks and other investments, but so far that hasn’t happened.

While people have a right to not like how the team is run, there is truly nothing that can be done.

This board is here for enjoyment, nothing more. Millions of words have been posted over the years and once they slip from page 1 or 2 they are gone forever and forgotten.

But the one consolation to all of this is every board and forum of underperforming teams and mgmt have the same posts. The only difference are the posters’ names.

Everyone needs to relax.

Honestly, my life has been nothing but loss since midway through 2020. I won't lose the Ducks too
