Speculation: 2024-25 Coaching/Management/Ownership

The first chart shows that we’ve still been a bottom 5 team this year aside from goaltending. I don’t know how you can argue that personally

I’m all for seeing that February chart Carry on the rest of the way though. If we could be average from Feb-April that would be a terrific accomplishment for our standards and give me some hope going into next year

I swear some of you are just desperate for this team to be worse than they actually are
It’s more just pointing out that, while encouraging seeing the underlying numbers trending better, a 7 game sample size isn’t quite enough to conclude that the ship is pointing upward.

20 games? Sure that’s a quarter of a season. But 7? Not quite

But it’s all the goalies or whatever the narrative is

Sure still looks like the goalies carrying the team. Anaheim was involved in six 1-goal games out of the seven games played in February. Three of those 1-goal games went into OT or SO. We actually won two games without scoring 3 goals in a game! In the Vancouver win, Dostal let in two in the first period and shutout the Canucks for the rest of the game.

Hey, some people love to downplay our goalies so much that it's just a narrative that our goalies played out of their minds this season.

So we’re ignoring the improved offense to push a narrative about the goaltending, yep that seems about right

Even in the month of February, our "improved" month, we had the sixth-worst High Danger Chance % in the league.

We don't win games, our goalies do.

You are stating a Sv % of 0.925, involved in six 1-goal games, and the Ducks scoring only 2 goals in three of those games in those seven games is a narrative about the goaltending. It is sad you're not accepting of the receipts.

The goalies limited opponents to scoring 2 or fewer goals five times in the seven game set. I don't understand where the narrative is. You are gonna have to show some receipts than use feelings to believing a narrative push about the goaltending.

Nope, I’m merely saying the team is improving as a whole and it’s not only the goaltending

For the 7 games 2/1/25-2/28/25

GF : 20 (23rd)
6v5G : 3 (1st)
5v6G : 1 (T-8th)
SA/G : 31.7 (27th)
SF/G : 25.1 (30th)
SAT% : 45.8% (28th)
USAT% : 44.3% (30th)

Fully 25% of the goals are not a reproducible event, because they were with all with only 1 goaltender on the ice.

We lost to a wildcard team, beat a wildcard team, outgoalied the Kings in a rivalry game, and played a bunch of similarly bad teams as the Ducks.

The metrics are still crap. No parade planning necessary.

Exactly. even in those 7 games, we weren't like some great team

I’m pretty happy with how the Ducks have played lately, except for a couple of games.

But that doesn’t mean I think Cronin is doing a good job. I really don’t think he is a good coach. I want him gone.

If I just look at results, Bob Murray was the last Ducks coach with a winning record.

We still lack high intensity skilled/depth players. Most of our sguys are all quiet and lack emotion/toughness/meanness. Ie we’re a boring vanilla af team in all
Honesty. Seems a though verbeek sees this, and he’s been drafting more big moment guys like sennecke Gaucher etc

Nope, I’m merely saying the team is improving as a whole and it’s not only the goaltending

But it is the goaltending that is spearheaded the team to get into a 5-1-1 record. The netminders held five opponents to scoring only 2 goals or fewer. The average GF in the league is 3.02 goals for per game. Our offense scored 2 goals or fewer three times, but we won two of those games. Could have been four times without the two extra 6v5 goals scored in the last four minutes of the game. It's sheer bullshit to say "we're improving as a team" and call the goaltending a narrative.

@Ducks DVM shared even more metrics with respect to shots and possession that we're still the bottom during the 7-game set.

Here is your quote:

But it’s all the goalies or whatever the narrative is

If the whole team has improved, then where was the rest of the team when they left Gibson out to dry against Chicago? Without great goaltending, this team would lose so many more games.
