B-Sens 2024/25 Belleville Senators

Can you express this in terms of PIMs? We want our advanced analytics and scouting to be able to process this.

I posted about this before but our prospects overall PMPG (Penalty-Minutes-Per-Game) is the best in class.

I think all this came from Dorion not speaking clearly and telling the scouts to look for PMPG (instead of PPG)

How well...

Noon game for BSens

Roster Notes:

Belleville Sens Head Coach Dave Bell says the lineup this morning is “fluid” ahead of a noon puck drop. There could be additions to the Belleville lineup as forwards Cole Reinhardt and Zack Ostapchuk were returned to the AHL from Ottawa over night. They may be game-time decisions due to today’s early start. Make sure to check in for fu lineup details ahead of game time via the Belleville Sens social channels (@BellevilleSens). You can also click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions.

Who to Watch:

A bustling ball of energy, Senators forward Jan Jenik had been silent over seven games since a return from a short injury layoff, but he got himself on the scoresheet with an assist on Friday night in Rochester. The 24-year-old from Czechia, acquired in a trade that sent Egor Sokolov to the Utah Hockey Club, has dealt with some injuries this season but has amassed 11 points (six goals, five assists) over his first 28 games as a Senator. And, even if he’s not scoring goals, watch for Jenik to be all over the ice, setting the tone with his physical play and creating chances with his playmaking abilities.

The Monsters were shutout in Rochester earlier in the week, so don’t have any player coming into today’s game on current point streaks. That said, both Rocco Grimaldi (seventh) and Trey Fix-Wolansky (eighth) are among the top goal-scorers in the league, while goaltender Jet Greaves has the third-most saves in the AHL this season (870) and was excellent against the Senators last season. Greaves was 3-0-0 against Belleville in the 2023-24 regular season, and 3-1-0 against them in last year’s Calder Cup Playoffs.

Hayden Hodgson just levelled Bjorgvik-Holm into the boards, my stream cut out afterwards so I am not sure what happened but it looked like Bjorgvik-Holm could have been hurt pretty badly. Seemed to me on first glance like a dirty hit.

EDIT: looks like he is being stretchered off. Awful to see. Only 2mins for Hodgson but I wouldnt bet against a suspension.

EDIT 2: Upgraded to a 5 min Major + game misconduct.

EDIT 3: Shorty by Jan Jenik on a breakaway after a takeaway, 1:04 into the Major

Leevi Meriläinen (#35)

SA: 32 | SV: 31 | TOI: 65:00

Virgin Merilainen is a stud and should be playing now for the Sens.

Double J Jan Jenik seems to be back in form and fully healthy. I like his tenacity over Vanilla Ice Higmore for the 4th line.

American Hockey League hands out four game suspension to Belleville Sens Hayden Hodgson

February 24, 2025

SPRINGFIELD, MASS – The American Hockey League’s Player Safety Committee today announced the following suspensions:
Belleville Senators forward Hayden Hodgson has been suspended for four (4) games as a consequence of a boarding incident in a game at Cleveland on Feb. 23.

Hodgson will miss Belleville’s games tonight (Feb. 24) at Cleveland; Wednesday (Feb. 26) and Friday (Feb. 28) vs. Manitoba; and Saturday (Mar. 1) at Laval.

Roster Notes:

In the midst of a busy schedule and playing on back-to-back nights the Senators didn’t hold a morning skate on Monday. It’s hoped the rest will pay off, especially for forwards Zack Ostapchuk and Cole Reinhardt, who arrived back from the NHL Senators early Sunday morning and didn’t dress, due to the game’s early start. If Ostapchuk plays, it will be his first game for Belleville since November 23, while Reinhardt had a goal an assist in his last appearance for the AHL Sens, a win at home to Utica on February 17. You can click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions, with full lineup details ahead of game time via the Belleville Sens social channels (@BellevilleSens).

Who to Watch:

Should he dress today, fans will certainly be keeping an eye on Senators forward Zack Ostapchuk, who’s been in the National Hockey League since late November. The powerful forward had eight points (one goal, seven assists) in nine games with Belleville before being recalled and would provide some extra punch and physicality up front. The 21-year-old from St. Albert, Alberta, has dressed in 43 games for Ottawa this season registering four points (one goal, three assists). He had 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) in 69 games for Belleville in his rookie AHL campaign last year.

Forward Trey Fix-Wolansky was the only Monster to score in regulation on Sunday, knocking a rebound past Leevi Merilainen early in the third period. The two-time AHL All-Star is currently tied for seventh in AHL scoring with 43 points, which also tops the Cleveland scoring charts. Another Albertan, the 25-year-old has played all 267 games of his AHL career with Cleveland, after being drafted by Columbus in the seventh round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2018. Fix-Wolansky had three goals against Belleville in last year’s regular season and two assists against the Sens in last season’s Calder Cup Playoff series.
