Great move, his +16 is pretty eye-catching, double the next guy with Rhino at +8. Team scoring leader and a d-man himself Jeremy Davis is +4. Hope it's pretty telling of Mad Max Guennette's impact on BSens. Curious to see how much he has progressed, like his tools but didn't look like a regular NHLer in his last call-up.

4th in the league in +/- on the Belleville team with negative goal differential. OK, he has my attention.

Roster Notes:

With Belleville’s NHL parent club in Ottawa continuing to deal with a rash of injuries, the AHL Senators transaction page has been busy this week. Since New Year’s Eve, defenders Nikolas Matinpalo and Max Guenette and forwards Matt Highmore and Zack MacEwen have been called up to Ottawa. They join forwards Zack Ostapchuk and Cole Reinhardt, and goaltender Leevi Merilainen, who have been with the Ottawa since before the calendar turned. In corresponding moves, Belleville has recalled defenceman Djibril Toure and forward Jake Chiasson from the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL). Goaltenders Mark Sinclair and Alexis Gravel were also recently released from their professional tryouts. Before the game, you can click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions, with lineup details available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens).

Who to Watch:

This week, Belleville defender Jeremy Davies was selected to represent Belleville at the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Spotlight 29 Casino. The 28-year-old from Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, is playing in his first year with the Senators after signing a one-year, two-way deal during the offseason and is tied for the Belleville Sens team points lead at 23 (four goals, 19 assists). He also sits tied for fourth in points among AHL defencemen and tied for fourth in assists by defencemen. Meanwhile, forward Wyatt Bongiovanni had four points, including a hat trick, in Belleville’s 7-2 win at Utica last Saturday. Defenceman Donovan Sebrango had three assists last Saturday.

Like Bongiovanni for Belleville, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Ville Koivunen had a hat-trick and an assist in the Penguins’ last game, a 6-3 win in Toronto this past Wednesday. The 21-year-old Finnish rookie has the second most points among first-year players (10 goals, 17 assists) after developing with Karpat in Finland. The Penguins first visit also brings the return of former Belleville fan-favourite Boko Imama, who suited up for 53 regular season games and seven playoff contests with the Senators, amassing 10 points in the regular sesaon (three goals, seven assists) and three points in the playoffs (one goal, two assists).

Andlauer and Senators committed to keeping American Hockey League affiliate in Belleville

January 10, 2025

Ottawa Senators and Belleville Senators Owner Michael Andlauer has addressed recent rumours surrounding the relocation of the American Hockey League club and says the Belleville Sens and the City of Belleville continue to be an important piece to the organization.

Speaking with TSN’s Claire Hanna during Thursday night’s NHL Senators game at Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, Andlauer, who wore a red hat with “613” emblazoned across the front, reaffirmed his commitment to Senators fans in Belleville and the Bay of Quinte Region.

“When I hear things that are not right, I like to speak up. I owe it to the fans,” said Andlauer. “613 is Sens Country, as far as I’m concerned. When I bought the Belleville Bulls, I was loyal to my community in Hamilton, and today, that’s a different story.”

Andlauer also emphasized that the Bay of Quinte continues to be a perfect fit for the future.

“It’s strategic to be in Belleville; they’re great fans. The 613 is part of Sens Country, and Belleville is here to stay. I’m looking forward to spending a lot more time in Belleville.”

Ah man, down 3 early, what happened to Mads. This fall is quite unexpected. He still having some injury issues he's working through or what? It's like he just forgot how to goalie all the sudden. It's odd

First goal against Sogaard tonight was just awful. He got beat clean from way outside the circles.

Second goal came off a ludicrous turnover by Halliday in front of his own net.

Still, it's really starting to feel like this is a guy who desperately needs a fresh start with another organization.

Things are getting spicy! Hayden Hodgson drops Imama and gives him the old throwback 'L' gesture.

At the point where a Sogaard trade is best for everyone. If they’re able that is.

Roster Notes:

There will likely be more movement within the organization today after longtime Belleville standout Cole Reinhardt left the NHL Sens game in Pittsburgh last night, and Belleville forward Tyler Boucher left Friday’s game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the first period. Jamieson Rees and Malcolm Subban were still on the injured list heading into this weekend’s games. Along with those who were hurt, defensemen Max Guenette and Nicholas Matinpalo, along with forwards Zack Ostapchuk, Matt Highmore, and Zack MacEwen, all remain with the NHL club in Ottawa. Before the game, you can click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions, with lineup details available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens).

Who to Watch:

Even with the Senators alternating wins and losses of late, forward Jan Jenik has pieced together a three-game point streak (one goal, two assists), including an assist on Belleville’s only goal of Friday’s game, a beauty, scored by Keean Washkurak. Hayden Hodgson had the other assist on that Washkurak goal, giving him points in back-to-back games (one goal, one assist). He was a goal shy of the “Gordie Howe Hat Trick” on Friday after the helper and an entertaining tilt with former Senator Boko Imama in the second period.

Veteran forward Boris Katchouk has been the most productive Penguins lately, with points in five straight games (one goal, five assists), including a goal in Friday’s win at Belleville. The 26-year-old from Waterloo, Ontario has 25 points in 25 games with the Penguins after signing an AHL deal in the offseason. 2019 Penguins 7th round draft pick Valtteri Puustinen also scored against the Sens on Friday and has points in four straight games (one goal, four assists), while forward Sam Poulin scored twice to kick off the weekend.
