Belleville has a really deep roster:

Jenik - Ostapchuk - Bourgault
Crookshank - Halliday - Highmore (post IR)
Reinhardt - Pilon - Boucher
Bongiovanni - Rees - Hodgson
Washkurak, Daoust, Pettersson, Chiasson

Roos - Guenette
Davies - Matinpalo
Sebrango - Wylie
Donovan, Hamara

Sogaard
Merilainen

Toure being sent to the ECHL is no surprise, but I wonder if Pettersson, Hamara and Chiasson will follow.

Just too many bodies right now.
I am seeing that Toure (and Michael Simpson) was sent to Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, who are affiliated with the Lightning.
Looks like we might have 3 or 4 more players being sent to Orlando.

I think traditionally the Sens have only had a couple of players on their ECHL affiliated team, which was last the Allen Americans I believe?
Interesting now that they don't have an ECHL team, they are going to have 5 or 6 players going to the ECHL.

Some interesting things going on here.

-Merilainen the opening night starter
-Hodgson getting paid a lot of cheddar to sit [325k]
-Jorian Donovan scratched
Merilainen is the heir apparent, IMO but Sogaard has lots of time to sort himself out.

I sort of like that Donovan is scratched, but only from the perspective that I appreciate having competition in the NHL and AHL.
That's what good organizations have at all levels.

I have faith in Donovan, but he is a rookie, so earn your spot.

I would think they'd prefer to have a promising prospect like Donovan in the lineup over journeymen like Davies or Wylie. It's nice to win, but you also want to develop your rookies. Anyway.. great win. The Buffalo farm team is stacked with good prospects so great way to start the season.

It could be many things, but even in the AHL, they need to set a standard that you earn your ice time.

Donovan is still practicing and getting pro coaching. Up to him to push his way onto the game day roster.

I doubt they let him sit for long, regardless.
