The CHL will end up with many players who play up through their D+1 as it is common for good prospects to play another year in the USHL and/or in other Canadian junior leagues. This will be even more prominent now as the CHL is a much better league than the USHL and other Canadian junior leagues where the players will be much more likely to play their 19 year old season before heading to the NCAA. They will also retain many of the top players that they have always retained who are not interested in the NCAA.

The CHL has been pushing for this as well and are on the record as being very happy with the decision.
I don’t know if there is a thread about that but we already have seen the effect of that new rule. 3-4 players U18 who where playing USHL/BCHL have signed with a QMJHL team in the past 2 days like Enzo Lottin in Victoriaville who was their 1st pick (7oa) in the last draft
