MacInnis was definitely in Roy's head and that was the difference in the series. I don't think this team was stronger than the 86 team as Robinson had enormously regressed as had Gainey and Naslund had lost a step. Chelios stepped up to fill some of Robinson's duties and Richer was in the midst of a relatively poor season as he just didn't have his head in the game that season. Calgary finished the season just ahead of us for the President's trophy and had more firepower and a much better goal differential. They had two 50 goal scorers and two dmen almost at a ppg along with Mullen having 110 points compared to our leading scorer Naslund who had 84 points. Joel Otto was also an absolute beast as their 3rd line center and the best faceoff man in the game. It would be quite a stretch to claim that we had the better team.

I do agree with most of what you are saying and enjoy sharing these memories with fellow Hab fans who are old enough to have really watched those teams.
Both things can be true.

The 1989 Habs were at least as good as the 1986 and 1993 Habs.

But Calgary was also the slightly better team in 1989.

With all the hype focus on Demidov, Hutson, it's going to give Hage the chance to just do this thing without as much pressure from the fans as you can see it on this board alone or on twitter as he's barely talked about. Could be good for him to just to a little under the radar for now.
It will be great to see him play well in the NCAA as early as this year.

That three game sweep of the highly favoured Bruins was a forecaster of the team’s two Cup wins in 85/86 and 92/93. The Canadiens’ drafts in 1983 and 1984 which added Lemieux, Corson, Richer and Roy, transformed the team into a contender which it remained for the next decade.
Imagine trading every one of those players. Like holy shit!

If he does great in the NCAA, the fandom will definitely notice (eg caufield, hutson)

He isn't talked about because he doesn't play for another month. Only NCAA players haven't played yet. He will be followed like Demidov the 1st game of the season.

I put out 7 or 8 vids over the summer of him looking impressive in the USHL and the vid barely got any views but the Demidov vids from last years playoffs that I put up did way more views.

Thanks! I was shocked the got so few views as there is certainly something there, kids impressive and those vids showed some good things from him.
I'm really surprised by how little hype he's getting. Lots to be excited about in those videos. That being said, I think your videos show the warts in his game as well. It seems to me that he's capable of just taking a game over when he wants to, the problem is that he doesn't seem to want to very often. If he can develop into a guy that puts his best effort into every shift, he's a top 6 NHL player all the way. If this is where his effort level tops out, he'll be a fringe NHL'er who frustrates fans to no end.

That's why I started the channel to show the good and the bad so fans have a better idea of what to expect instead of just seeing the goals or pretty plays. He certainly looks like the type that may need 2-3 years to cook but if you let him and he can add enough mass, strength, you could have something very interesting with his speed and skill mix.

For sure. I still get a chuckle out of the people commenting that your prospect videos are too long. I just want to slap these people upside the head and tell them they don't have to watch the whole thing if they doesn't want to, the timestamps links are right there if a guy just wants the highlights. But for someone who maybe has some extra time and wants to really get to know a prospect, seeing what he does when he's away from the puck or when he's not scoring is invaluable.

Reminiscent of Mesar in his D+1......I expect Hage to be a much better prospect than Mesar though.

I never saw him before the draft, (I don't think) but I heard about his defense not being very good and my first thought was Mesar but I say way more effort at least in the 7 or 8 vids I did,

I was very impressed with his play, Mesar I rarely have been impressed with.

In case anyone is bored and wants to watch them, they are in order from start of season to end,

I absolutely love Hage as a prospect and was calling for us to take him in live time.

I only meant to compare him to Mesar in the way that they were seemingly forgotten about after being drafted. Drafting Slafkovsky 1st OA and the trading of Romanov to acquire Dach took all of the oxygen out of the room in the same way that the Demidov selection did this season and both Hage and Mesar were almost after thoughts up until their season started.

Hage is a much better prospect than Mesar in every way and I see liitle comparison other than the fact that they are fast and skilled. I wasn't pissed about Mesar at the time but I wanted 2 of Kulich, Beck and Luneau with our 26th pick and the 1st pick of the second round. I wanted Hutson with our late 2nd so needles to say I was happy with that draft overall.
