NCAA: 2024-2025 Transfer Portal

Like I said, wishful thinking.
Of course. PSU would be recruiting hard for the 25 class of HS. Now an 18 year old see that there is a path in year 2 with Allar leaving after the 25 season. Lots of dominos fall once certain guys make their decisions.

BTW, I’m a little surprised Arch didn’t transfer when Ewers announced that he is staying.

Maybe he thinks he can beat him out for the job.

Arch playing the long game. He could have transferred, but he has confidence in Sark's coaching to help him improve and be more ready for the NFL.

i wonder what 4 year QB that Notre Dame will grab for next season?
ND recruited Lloyd Carr's grandson I believe. He was on the roster this season. Going to see whether they let one of the youngster battle for the job or whether they want another Portal kid with experience. Have 3 underclassmen who can return in 2025.

Portal stuff should start in late January, not December while teams are still playing

The only reason I can think it starts so early is because they have to register for spring classes which start in January and I get that. If January isn't plausible then open the portal in April or something and have them start fresh in August.

That makes sense, didn't really think of the "student" part of "student athlete"

Penn State has been oddly inactive during this Transfer Portal so far, just 3 depth guys. They have some potential question marks heading into next season.

At some point these QBs who have no starting experience that enter the portal will need to win a qb battle. Howard Walker leaving Ole Miss when Dart is declaring and not competing with the other QBs on the depth chart says a lot.

I understood the PSU kid leaving when Allar announced his return for a senior year. Kid had 2 years left of eligibility so go and find a better chance at being a starter elsewhere.

Wise move to return to college for Beck. Post 1st round picks, the leash is super short to show what you have. No chance he would have gone round 1.

Since, Dak Prescott in 2016 (kickstarted by Romo's injury), the number of non first round picks who ended up as a permanent starter are Hurts and Purdy. Ridder was given a chance and failed. Levis likely to lose his spot, O'Connell in LV is as well. Rookie salary scale makes is easier for NFL clubs to move off young QBs to the next one faster.
So, you need to be 100% ready to go when your name is called, be it in your rookie season or years 2 or 3. Trask was given the shot to compete with Baker after Brady retired and didn't impress. Mills got 2 years in Houston and they drafted Stroud at #2. Howell started in 2023 but was traded after Wash got 2nd overall pick and took Daniels, while Howell in Seattle served as the backup to Smith.
