Love Ross Colton on the wing btw. I think it opens him up to be the forechecker that makes him such a valuable piece. He gave the Leafs fits when TBL played them a couple of years ago in the playoffs. He and Lehkonen would be awful to play against if you're a defensemen trying to corral a dump in.

I'll say it again: if Colton isn't playing center he needs to get traded.
Agreed but I think that can wait until the Summer.

If Landeskog isn't returning until playoffs or at all, this team IIRC still has LTIR space to take advantage of. Getting a 3C like Gourde then moving Colton to wing would go a long way to helping our playoff chances.

I'll quite happily keep Nuke and his piss roulette rather than swapping him for a washed up baby in Krieder. What "needs" is he supposed to be filling?

Good fit for their needs?

The Avs need a couple of bottom six forwards and a 3rd pairing d-man who kills penalties.

Kreider is neither of those things.
He's a phenomenal PK forward and the guy lives in front of the net. Avs desperately need help in both of those areas. That said, he's really starting to show signs of wear and tear, so I'd say no, but five years ago? Absolutely would've taken him.

If Landy isn’t coming back in the regular season, I wonder if we can get Gourde and Oleksiak from Seattle. Can we make that work?

Never mind. Just checked their contacts, would be too expensive even with retentions. Maybe we can get Gourde because 3C is more of a priority

It's hard to tell if he's just mad at the GM or he aged rapidly.

If the Avs are looking to move away from Nuke (it's still a possibility) and the Rags want to make a swap I could see it. AAV is similar but Kreider has only 2 extra years left while Nuke has 5.

I don’t see why his rapid decline would be that surprising? He’s almost 34. That’s prime time to fall off the cliff talent wise.

Wouldn't be "surprising" but stuff is happening in that locker room and he's been at the center of it (along with the other guys that are gone). It's easy to see how that would have greatly affected his play.

I mean it probably doesn’t help. But Kreider would be the millionth player to go from good to really bad at 33. That’s far more likely.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Could carry some risk for the Avs of course but if indeed this locker room is fractured in part because some guys simply don’t want Val there, then they should try something like this.

I'd much rather have Kreider. We know for a fact that Smith is done.

Kreider we don't know (and he's also better than Smith to start with).
