I don't think anyone wants that full contract even for future considerations. Too risky.

6.4M AAV for a bad goalie can hurt a contender for multiple years and shitty teams have to reason to get him.

He only has positive value at 50% retention and it's not that much.
I think you’re really undervaluing him. At 50% he’d be an absolute steal.

Is Pärssinen actually on the trade block? I think he would be a great 3C with potential for even more.

I thought we were trading for Crosby($8.7m) + Pettersson($4.025m), activating Landeskog($7m) and sneaking in a cheeky Pageau($5m)?

It only works in Vegas, but I suggest we trade for a Knights accountant/capoligist.

If we had a competent GM we would sell high on wedgewood and Blackwood to recover missing assets and try and accelerate the rebuild…. I would focus on building from the D out, centring a top 6 around the gigantic up and coming stalwart of Keaton Middleton. Shifting team identity from speed and skill to bruising shut down grind it out 2-1 style hockey. A couple extra first round picks gets us a chance for another cup run in 6-7 years, pending the development curve of Giovani Smith, obviously. Need something to get us out of the “Calgary zone” but this coach and GM are not the ones to do it. Can’t keep losing all our 5th round picks and hope to find a way into the win column. The local river isn’t enough to bring players in anymore, need to do it the old fashion way, 3 GM phones minimum…

This is clearly the way, and only path forward if we want any chance of being successful, like the leafs.

IMHO

Wedgewood is signed for 2 years so we don’t have to worry about him, but I wonder how much we gonna give Blackwood or how much can we give him? If last night’s game is an indication how he’s gonna play for us, it might be tough to re-sign him for cheap. How much can we realistically afford to pay him?
