Sanheim doesn’t fit in with the rebuild of the Flyers imo. If we pay up I wonder if we could land him.

To Phi:
2025 2nd
Ritchie
Girard ($5)
Wood ($2.5)

To Col:
Sanheim ($6.25x6)

Then go all in on Gibson as well.

To Ana
2026 1st
Georgiev ($3.4)
Foudy

To Col
Gibson (50%, $3.2x3)

We save $1.45m, improve our defense and goaltending with players with term and in this case very reasonable cap hits.

This season we could role:

Toews-Makar
Sanheim-Malinski
Kylington-Manson

How would Girard and Wood fit in for them better than Sanheim?

That's a lot of assets to pay for a marginal upgrade in D and goal. I'd argue making Kylington a regular and relying on Malinski on the 2nd pair actually makes our D worse.

I’m done trying to figure out goaltending in the NHL. Not even sure what would be an upgrade in net for the Avs
You either go for a clear upgrade, or you don’t bother. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of options available that don’t also come with considerable risk.

Mcavoy can’t even play defense this season. He’s terrible out there and I’m watching them every game. His stick is where plays go to die offensively and he’s lost defensively. I don’t know what’s going on.
Coach - the players want him gone imo

Girard isn’t a negative value player, he has utility and provides solid top 4 minutes. He can also be used as a trade trip later on. So a younger top 4 defender, a prospect I would consider a blue chip and a second is pretty solid value imo.

I don't think he's quite lived his dream until the Flyers snag him. That's what he considers his hometown.
Yeah, I was just saying that while continuously getting cut sucks, he's staying in the NHL. Fatter paycheck, better hotels, nicer food, more amenities. Good for him.

And did you see him lay out 6'4 Risto last game? G's a warrior!

I've long had the thought that Little G sometimes blacks out while he's skating and when he comes back to, will see the first player he lays eyes on as Debrincat. This, of course, drives him irrate and he goes into kill mode. This happened a few seasons back when he laid out Bortuzzo.

Sanheim was part of the nixed trade involving Hayes a couple years back, but seems like Flyers decided to resign him for big dollars and long term. Why would they consider trading him? He plays so many minutes for them

I think they've tried to get rid of him multiple times now. They just can't seem to make up their mind with the guy.
