That wouldnt be a bad thing . I know Toews doesnt have the best reputation on HF , but he will bring ALOT of extra leadership , plus i'm sure he's still good on faceoffs .
That would be cool , but can’t imagine his skating being all that ideal at this stage . Nonetheless the Avs should at least inquire

I'd rather do something around Mittlestadt and Pettersson.

Only way you could do something like that is if you really are trading Rantanen.

I wouldn't do that, I'd rather sink or swim with Rantanen I think.... But for the people who really dont think we'd miss Rantanen all that much(Basically the ones who think he's largely a product of Mack), I can see that direction being pretty enticing.

For pure arguments sake though.... If the Avs decided to do say Rantanen for Svechnikov+, and then Mittelstadt++ for Pettersson it would be pretty interesting.

Drouin - Mack - Nuke
Lehky - Petersson - Svechnikov

But personally I dont want Petey as I dont know if his attitude is what we want on this team and nor do I want to trade Mikko at this stage either.

My guess is Drouin gets a 2-year deal. Some stability while a last chance at a 3-5 year deal on the other end.
Possibly.

But I also wonder if he just isn't overly interested in chasing money at this point? I feel like the deal he took with us last year was a pretty clear indication of how much he's loved it here and how he probably doesn't have much interest in going anywhere else.

He did the Avs a solid last year by ultimately taking just the 1x$2.5M. I bet the Avs return the favor and give him some real term this time around but I also think the cap hit is still going to be shockingly low for what he brings to the table because he really wants to be here and the term will make it worth it for him.

I'm thinking something like 4-6 years at ~$3-3.5M honestly.

The one thing I'll say is player perceptions change quickly. It was only 2-3 years ago where most posters wanted nothing to do with Miller because of the locker room drama.

Probably because at the time it wasn't really clear what the drama was but now we've got a pretty good idea that the dude simply really wants to win and f***ing hates losing.

JT Miller has been pissing players/coaches/GM's off for way more than 2-3 years.

Someone wrote a good article a couple of years ago about his time in NY. He's not an easy guy to be around.

And speaking of Miller in NY...

What do you mean change quickly? It's been 2-3 years and he's still pissing players off lol.
2-3 years ago nobody wanted to touch Miller. Now people are comfortable with trading for him.

Most things that end up in the media is only half the story or skewed events. You take with a grain of salt - it can be a factor in the process of figuring out whether the Avs should trade for a player, but it shouldn't be a major one.

In a hypothetical trade scenario, I think either one of Miller or Pettersson would be a fit here.

Thinking we should really talk to Lou about some trades. Wouldn't mind getting Varly back as our #3 and to help out while Wedgewood in on the shelf.

[edit... Never mind, his extension is for way too long. For some reason I thought he was a UFA this summer.]

Bo Horvat "really wants to win" when you watch him in the playoffs. Why did Miller hate him, then?

J.T. Miller is a f***ing asshole because that's just who he is. You don't win with players like Miller. Even given his offensive production, which has been fantastic as he's 13th in scoring since 21-22, I still believe he thinks he's better than that. Like he's supposed to be "the man" regardless of who is on the team, and if you don't play or act exactly how he thinks you should be acting then he's going to make your life miserable.

I hope like hell the Canucks choose to stick with this loser and trade Pettersson instead, who himself isn't all that far behind Miller since 21-22 coming in at 19th in scoring.

Miller is an asshole but I'm not sure he's the one that should be labeled "loser" between those two, though.

And why is that? They're on the same team. Miller hasn't magically led the Canucks anywhere that Pettersson hasn't.

One of these guys alienates teammates and is a cancer wherever he plays. The other is Pettersson.

Yes, Miller is a loser.

Quinn Hughes plays for the same team and it doesn't seem to bother him. EP is a f***ing snowflake, he's the loser.

I'm not commenting on the EP vs JT thing, as I don't know much about EP.

But Hughes should care as captain of the team. That's his job. It's clearly an issue, and there's been smoke around JT everywhere he has been. Hughes should be taking charge of that locker room, or delegating to more vocal leaders.

Just because he hasn't turned his attention to Hughes yet doesn't mean he won't.

Shipped out of New York, shipped out of Tampa Bay, rumoured to be on the block now, bickered publicly with Horvat and got Horvat sent to NYI, been bickering publicly with Pettersson for a while.

There's a commonality here. It isn't Pettersson. It's the loser.

Hughes literally came out last week and acknowledged there's an issue, then Miller and Pettersson both publicly denied it. If Pettersson leaves, Miller will turn his attention to someone else.

You shouldn't assume that you know more than their GM about what's going on in their locker room.

Allvin publicly told Pettersson to man up a few days ago.

And yet, a guy who played with both Miller and Pettersson in Brad Richardson publicly said the other day that Miller is way too hard on Pettersson.

Allvin is not in the room every day, Richardson was.

Again, hope they keep the loser and trade Pettersson. I'm sure it will work out juuuuuust fine for Vancouver.

If he was such a winner you think the Lightning would've moved on from him mid contention window? His dick headedness is 100% more than just him wanting to win.
