everyone was bottled up for so long having to talk about shit that actually mattered and now that the goalie thing is done it's all coming uncorked at onceCan we please quit polluting the trade thread with more incessant Rants discussion? My God, there are at least two other threads dedicated to this subject.
Yeah no doubt all teams are gauging the prices for the pieces they’re interested in.According to Pierre LeBrun, the hurricanes were also interested and in talks with the sharks about Blackwood.
So that would be why the price seemed so highAccording to Pierre LeBrun, the hurricanes were also interested and in talks with the sharks about Blackwood.

Welcome back JMFJ!!!Goes in line with what Kypreos said on Tuesday.
CMac had the target(s) identified and wasn’t going to wait around for somebody to outbid them or sit until closer to the trade deadline.
He said it’s the same thing for the D we are looking for. Avs have their guy(s) identified and might be willing to overpay or meet the asking price to get a deal done soon. Won’t wait until the deadline.
And something needed to be done sooner rather than later.Goes in line with what Kypreos said on Tuesday.

I’m guessing Savard.Welcome back JMFJ!!!
Seriously though, I wonder who they've targeted.
I’m guessing Savard.
I wonder who that guy could be?
I was thinking Oleksiak, but he has another year.I’d be surprised if it’s a RHD like Savard.
I think the plan is:
Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
xxx - Malinski
de Haan/Kylington
Probably somebody who is a good PKer. Left handed to pair with Malinski.

He lost a step this year and he's significanty worse than he was just last yearI’m guessing Savard.
Can we change the name of the thread, too? Slow crawl to the Season seems a bit behind the times. Can we please quit polluting the trade thread with more incessant Rants discussion? My God, there are at least two other threads dedicated to this subject.

Gotta say, the list of UFA dmen is not so good.

I've been curious about how Oleksiak would fit on the Avs for a while, but I haven't watched him closely enough to gauge his level of play.
Specifically, I've wondered if he could play on the top pair with Makar, because I think Toews needs a lesser role, and Cale needs help with net front duties. Cale's ok at this, but it's not a strong suit of his, and Toews isn't great either. Makes the top pair more vulnerable against top lines than it should be.
But he's #5 in minutes on Seattle, so it seems as though he's more of a 2nd/3rd pair tweener, which is exactly the type of defenseman I thought the Avs may add. He'd help Malinski with net front battles and corner battles too.
He's Seattle's top PKer as well. Something the Avs have had issues with for a few years now. Making $4.6M for a third pair guy doesn't seem like it would work on the Avs though, so maybe they pay for Seattle to retain, and that's where the "overpayment" could come into effect.
