Take the limiter off Z and I'd probably enjoy the hell out of, but not at 5M per. And probably not in the playoffs either.

I doubt the Avs were looking to dump a defensemen. They have shown they really want to have 5 strong defensemen in the recent years. Even going to the point to have a deal lined up to replace one to trade one.

This AAV will be interesting. Anything >9m shows the market direction going really high. <8.25 is probably a solid deal given Guentzel.

I like Konecny a lot. Plays with jam, has speed, can be reliable defensively and can put up ~70 points.
Probably 875K higher than I would go personally but Philly ain't got shit to work with.

Sure. He's paced better than 70 three times but hasn't hit it due to injuries/covid.
It's like when MacKinnon hilariously couldn't break 100. Everyone knew it would happen eventually.
Konecny is a 70+ point forward when healthy.

Bolded is why I made that post TBH. 9 seasons in the NHL, 2 of those full seasons (counting 81 games as full). He just misses time a lot.

Yeah... by the market of a couple years ago, this is probably around that area too much. It is just a fine sort of deal. At very least it did set a new higher standard for a good, but not elite 1st liner.

Drai is probably the first domino there. If he gets 14+, then the market is going to follow that very quickly. If he's kept around Matthews, it probably buys another year before McDavid resets the whole thing again. IMO McDavid is likely >15m and 16m is not out of the question.

Avs should just go all in on dingers. Get rid of all the depth in preparation of signing Kaprizov so we can have Kirill-Nate-Mikko and Makar putting up silly points but contention is done. Huge hits, big goals, no wins!

I think it greatly depends on what happens with the cap, does it actually increase as expected or does it stall? We could start to see some big contracts that are predictive of the cap increasing
