Marchand can plug and play any of the 8 wing spots which makes him valueable. He’s also really good defending leads. Great defensive stick, doesn’t give up on plays. Plus you can’t teach his “been there before” presence.

I’d love him, depending on the cost.
He's literally the perfect rental*

*unless your team has very limited assets, cap space and needs a center and a RD

We also can’t pretend like IF we go on a run, that all the wingers will stay healthy. One injury puts Colton in the top 6. 2 puts Kiviranta in the top 6.

We 100% need another top 9 forward. If it’s not an upgrade to 2C, we need a winger, specifically for the right side.

I also think if you add a middle 6C, you still need another winger because Drury or Mitts aren’t moving to wing. Still leaves Kivi in your top 9.

If those centre’s aren’t available that’s what they’re going to have to do though. Insulate them with better wingers and make the team deeper as a whole.

I understand what you’re saying. It shouldn’t be priority #1 by any means. But if a vet like Marchy is available and likely “picks his spot” making him really affordable, I’m all about it. I know none of us are in that room but from the outside, I think that locker room could use a Marchand.

I'm not going to act like I don't want Marchand on this team, for the locker room alone it would be huge. CMac would have to do miracles though, because it can't be at the expense of at the very least a good 3C.

FYI, looking at the list of top even strength performers, and cross referencing with players in the rumor mill, here’s the best:

Ryan Donato: 32 ESP
Brad Marchand: 33 ESP
Kyle Palmieri: 32 ESP
Alex Tuch: 36 ESP
JJ Peterka: 35 ESP
Brock Nelson: 35 ESP
Brayden Schenn: 32 ESP

I took a quick look.

3 centers on that list, which needs to be the priority.

Nelson - great fit, size, skating, experience, but most certainly just a rental
Donato - major reservations in a contract year and his best season so far, also a poor skater and not a rush player at all
Schenn - biggest contract commitment moving forward, also doubt the Blues trade us their captain

Lol the week before deadline and all the sanity goes right out the window. There is going to be no Crosby, Marchand, Kadri, Nelson or for that matter any decent name.

CMac will get some crap ass plug and call it good. Although a crap ass plug would probably be better than Mitts, so I guess there's that.

But really CMac's history shows he'll find some BS guy that doesn't really fit our team. We won't improve in the slightest and we'll get smoked round 1 if we even make the playoffs.

"I can't see the sky anymore. Where did the sky go? Oh there it is....it has fallen."

I can’t wait for them to spend a first and Ritchie to reacquire JTC

At least this is more reminder not to take anything you post seriously.

Chicken Little has made his daily "the sky is falling" post. It must be so tiresome being you.

Nothing we don't know.

I feel like we’re about to get the classic:

“We looked to make an addition, but the prices didn’t align with what we were willing to pay. We still have a lot of faith in this group and believe we have what it takes to win this year.”

Followed up by a disappointing second round exit.

I hope I’m wrong!

I'm sure they'll try, but without any obvious solutions, this is pretty likely. I think they go after, and end up landing, a 3C to at least try to deepen the group.

Second round means we beat one of Dallas, Winnipeg, Vegas, or Edmonton in the first round.

A man of confidence, I see.

I’m very Hugh on Peterka for his age and I think thank Tuch could be Nice on MacKinnon side.
