Detroit has cleaned up a ton in the last 8 years since I've been here (Specifically downtown). This just isn't true anymore.

Add in the OG6 history, the available surrounding rich areas, very new arena, Lake Life and no Denver doesn't have it beat. Not even close.

Doesn't come close to the lifestyle available in Seattle either with Salt Life, and Skiing all available within 45 minutes of eachother with pretty temperate climate rarely under 40 degrees or over 90. The rapid elevation change from sea level to high elevation as you go west allows for some crazy stuff all within a close proximity.

I've lived in or near all three cities, and Denver is "nice" but not that exciting by comparison.

It's interesting the perceptions people have.

It's such a dilemma. We could get a great price for Mitts now based on how many teams need a center but at the same time it would probably destroy our season for good. (Not that Mitts any good but Drury can't be #2 center).

I guess you could then argue Mitts should have good value in the off-season too because lack of options.. so maybe our situation isn't as hopeless as you would think in terms of him.



Yeah, there's no way we re-sign him before seeing him in action. Especially after what the Rangers fans said. They say he is cooked physically. His play style hurt him.

The idea I have in my head is to move Mitts for an under contract winger llike Mercer and then futures for Nelson. It will suck that we have to hunt down a new center again over the summer, but that seems like it's going to happen anyway. But at least it would be a big step forward to competing this year.

I don’t want to offend the many folks here from Denver, but here’s the honest truth…

As somebody who doesn’t live there but has visited over 20 times, I think it’s one of the most boring “big cities” there is.

The streets are dead. There’s no excitement. The bars suck. The events suck. It’s old people wearing cowboy hats or young hipsters with blue hair.

Somehow, despite being a dead city, the prices are brutal for everything. It’s all overpriced.

People want to joke about Canada, but I live outside of Toronto and by God you can’t even compare the two. Toronto is like New York, Paris, and Rome all mixed together compared to Denver.

Sorry if that offended anybody, but Denver would absolutely suck for a multimillionaire athlete in their 20s or 30s.

Dallas or Ft Lauderdale are better? I think this was a pure tax move for him. He's locking down as much dough as he can and go play for a contender. I'm surprised he didn't add Tampa to his list but he probably sees them as too hard nosed for his lazy game

I'm not saying Florida should make him a 1st pairing guy, but just saying it's a potentially open spot with Ekblad a UFA. I'm fairly certain that Jones still views himself as a 1st pairing guy and was likely swayed by that opportunity.

As for the Avs and D, they only have 3 RD under contract through the entire system, one of which can't stay healthy. I'd be shocked if they don't add at least one more, even if it's only a 7-8 type guy.

Fact is the Avs are looked on as an also ran who will struggle to make the playoffs and win a round. They're not seen as a cup favourite so the draw of a "winning" team died off after the Seattle loss.

Not much interesting.

This is what hasn’t been talked about a lot with Lindgren. Bottom pair was Charmin soft. Even if Lindgren has warts at least he helps with that.

Apparently they're up against the cap. So the deal would be complicated.

I like the idea of a three way trade between Utah, NJ, and us. Colton to NJ, Crouse to the Avs whatever to Utah.

We're in a very tumultuous period of Avalanche hockey. The way I see it:

2018-2022 was the "Addition" Era. It was all about building on top of what was already there. The only roster player traded in-season was Tyson Jost (Sturm trade). Otherwise, it was stictly draft picks and prospects that were dealt.

2023+ is the "Churn" Era. 14 in-season trades (so far!) between this season and last, not to mention all of the off-season surgery. I like the agression and trades are fun to talk about, sure. But it's a clear symptom of a flawed roster.

I don't get the Columbus hate, it's a really nice city, especially the Arena district and German Village. I'm a dad in my 40s though so my opinion will certainly be different from millionaire athletes. Although I feel like Dougie Hamilton and I would get along, since I enjoy history and museums. Out of all of the mid to large cities I've been to, Columbus is near the top. Most of the major cities I've been to were for baseball trips.

Atlanta-Went there in 2002, horrible traffic. Don't remember much else.
Baltimore--(2011) The area near Camden yards is cool, can't speak to much else.
Columbus--(numerous visits) nice city, with some cool things to do.
Chicago--(2005) Actually really nice on the lake and some downtown areas were alright for the most part.
Cincinnati--(numerous visits) decent in spots, rough in others, really nice riverwalk area between the stadiums. Newport aquarium is cool.
Cleveland--(2005, 2008) some decent areas, but overall meh.
Detroit--(2005, 2008) decent area downtown near Comerica but some really rundown areas too, like where the old Tiger Stadium was.
Indianapolis--(numerous visits) Suburbs are nice. Zoo was cool with the dolphin dome.
Minneapolis--(2005) I actually really liked Minneapolis but I've heard it's gone downhill over the last 20 years or so. Took a train ride to the Mall of America and it was nice and clean.
Milwaukee--(2005) Don't remember much other than Miller Park was awful.
Philadelphia--(2023) Old town is great, the rest of the downtown area is not, especially around Love Park. Public transport condition was nice.
Pittsburgh--(2001 Nice stuff to do downtown, remember it being a nice area but haven't been there in nearly 25 years.
St Louis--(2009) Another city I liked. Forest park was really cool and the northern suburbs were nice at the time.
Washington DC--(2011) Only saw west of the river near the Pentagon and the area near Nationals Park which was extremely run down.

Only city I've been to in Canada is Windsor.
