Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, who the f*** wants to live in Texas?
My sis-in-law's ex was so f***ing obsessed with moving back to Houston, he ended his marriage in order to do so. The wife and I visited them way back when they still lived there the first time, I was just flabbergasted with how much driving you had to do just to get from place to place. It was so spread out and overdeveloped. I felt like I was driving around two Denver Metro Areas but it was all the same city.

Watched Chicago/Utah last night. Wow, is Chicago a full on dumpter fire. Shot attempts were 93-39. Kind of hard to evaluate Jones with that, but he did have a few shot blocks and scored the lone goal. But at the same time, looked pretty checked out of the game. I do think getting him out of that situation will help, but at the same time, he is part of that problem.

Crouse had a great game. He took a hard shot off the ankle midway through the game and was shown limping into the dressing room. But he still managed to score a nice backhanded goal driving the net. The dude is a warrior and a leader. I think a lot of his lack of production this year is being pushed down the lineup. That will still be the case in Colorado, but I think he would really help solidify our 3rd line.

I've mentioned Marino a few times before. He isn't a great skater, but he gets around well enough. He's really solid all around the ice and does well getting the puck out of the zone. I don't think he would be available, but if so, he would be an ideal target.

Hayton was fun to watch. Good motor and a good 1st step. He plays the goal front position on the power play and didn't seem to mind taking abuse there. It shows as he has 62 shots from the high danger zone this year (compared to Mitts 76 from all areas). He shot wasn't all that impressive, but half of scoring is getting yourself in a position to score. He's only 24 and I think there is more to his game to unlock. Like Marino, I doubt he is available, but if so, I'd be pushing hard to get him
So what you're saying is Jones, Hayton, and Crouse are coming? Nice.

Jones was really good in the string of games I watched. I looked at handling forcheck pressure, his breakout ability, handling the front of the net etc. I wanted to know if his mobility was still there.

He can still do all of the things we want at a high level. He's relied on there to QB the power play, and be a #1 against top competition. Which brings out some flaws in his decisions at times.

While he has the tools I don't think he thinks the game at a high enough level to be a #1 on a contender playing 25 minutes a night.

Closer to 20 minutes on the second pair? With spot duty when Cale is injured, and taking the PK minutes away from Makar. He'd be perfect for that.

He's like EJ was IMO, can be really good all situations. Over play him, and you see cracks.

Jones around 6-7 and I'm down.

Now they can probably cut some dead weight (like Dumbo and Lyubushkin), not resign Duchene, and probably make it work, but Frank isn't technically wrong that it would be hard for Dallas to fit him in for the next 5 years.
Yeah, mentioned this in an earlier post. Harley just played for Team Canada, so you know his next contract is going to be very big, and that means Dallas will have large long-term contracts for Heiskanen, Lindell, and Harley as their top three D. Could they add Jones to that group to make a strong top 4? Probably, yeah. But it's an awful lot of space to spend on the backend, especially as the Jones contract will look worse over time as he ages

Not necessarily. Nill has said that re-signing Benn is a priority. He and Duchene will cost upwards of $12-$13M combined. Johnston is going to go from $895k to $7-$8M. Bourque and Lundqvist will cost upwards of $2M each, and their buyout of Suter jumps to $1.433M next year. All that right there gets them very close to the cap.

However, it's the following year (2026) when Robertson, Marchment, and Harley will be due for significant raises where Jones's deal becomes problematic for them.

Why would Dallas not re-sign their leading scorer Duchene to have Seth Jones?

I don't know, but f*** Matt Duchene and Dallas. I hope they pay him and he promptly turns into a pumpkin again.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like Dallas, so anything stupid they do, I’ll approve. I actually do hope they let Duchene go who’s on a very team friendly contract to have Jones at 9 mill who isn’t even a #1 D

Ok, now do Jones to Colorado

It's going to have to wait to the off-season but here's what's going to happen.

After a first round exit, Colorado will fire Jared Bednar.

Chicago will hire Bednar, and Mikko will follow him there to play under the coach who will give him all his ice time.

The Pens will finally move on from Mike Sullivan, who Colorado will scoop up, in a tandem deal that will see Crosby requesting a trade to stay under his long-time coach.

It is foreseen.
