Sure, get Nick Robertson. A guy who's not big, not fast, and is injury prone as all hell. He's the perfect Avs addition.

In all seriousness that's probably the best one could hope to get in return for Mittelstadt unless the Avs throw a ton more in.
Robertson? Even despite Mitts' struggles that guy isn't anywhere close value wise. He's a borderline AHLer.

I know he's a winger but if the Oilers are serious about Jeff Skinner potentially being on the block I'd be all over that guy.

His underlying per-60 metrics are FANTASTIC and he's got legit production, too, yet the Head Coach seems to hate his guts and continues to scratch him/play him on the 3rd/4th line.

Put that guy on the wing with MacKinnon and Lehkonen and watch him thrive.

Yeah I think he'd be a decent lowish risk option. This team DESPERATELY needs a shooting threat.

Hes a 3C maybe lower end but for sure not a 2C.
Isnt he playing 1C for Boston? Lindholm is getting 2C TOI. I know contenders have to look at it differently but maybe we are looking at Mitts with an unfair lens? Has his production or on ice performance looked good, not particularly but if Zacha isnt even a 2C then Boston doesnt have any top 6 Cs right now? What teams have legitimately 2 top 6 true Cs? What is the threshold?

Good teams do. Contenders.

Vegas - Eichel/Hertl
Oilers - McDavid/Draisaitl
Stars - Hintz/Duchene/Johnston
Panthers - Barkov/Bennett
Devils - Hughes/Hischier
Leafs - Matthews/Tavares
Capitals - Strome/Dubois (good this year)

Some others…

Blues - Thomas/Schenn
Kings - Kopitar/Byfield
Islanders - Horvat/Nelson
Rangers - Miller/Zibanejad

Well, you're kinda seeing why Boston sucks so bad this year. They lost their 1C and 2C, the former being the best two-way forward of his generation, and then didn't bother replacing them the following season. SOMEHOW they got away with it for one year (probably because their goalie tandem bailed their asses out) but it's finally caught up to them. Getting Lindholm was a terrible idea--that dude was propped up by two star wingers having elite-level seasons, he was never going to be the answer.

Would Anaheim do a Zegras swap for Mittelstadt?
Well, if that were available people know where I'd stand on a move like that.

Someone proposed a Mittelstadt for Hayton swap on TheScore.
Eh. Hayton looks like kind of a bust to me. I remember reading even before he was drafted that he might not be a center at the NHL level.

That's my fear with a guy like Zacha. He's not suddenly going to drive a line. So we'll need to play him with Necas. Might as well try Mitts with him first...

Yeah, the idea is he'd face lesser competition, and could still have nearly as strong of linemates.

It is possible for players to take next steps.

The fall back on it is if you don't like him at 2C he fits much better as a high end 3C since he wins faceoffs and Pks than Mitts does.

People saying he's not even a 3C are hilarious.

Cmac needs to force Bednar to do that or Bednar needs to make the decision, thus far he played Necas with Drury instead of Mitts when he finally did shuffle the lines.

I'd be all over that. Good skater and a great advanced stats. Also has a cap hit half of Mitts.
Dude has had multiple chances to secure a center spot on a team that isn't exactly teeming with pivot talent and still can't get the job done. Couldn't even bump Alexander Kerfoot.

He's 27 years old. There's not much in the way of "next steps" for him to take. He's been mediocre to bad pretty much everywhere else he's been, and in the limited time I've seen him has been better on the wing (though not by much).

He’s been at center all year.

Over 700 faceoffs taken and at a 54.8% clip too.
Well, that is appealing to be sure.

Ah...the days when Landeskog and Kadri took the majority of key faceoffs on this club.

You really think I'm talking about him taking another step right now?

Zacha was one of those hybrid W/C types for a while, but Boston moved him to C full time last year.

I think he's a decent two-way guy, but the splits with/away from David Patrnak are uuugly.

Well...if the Avs make the investment they kinda need him to do they not? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding. I'm quite good at jumping into conversations when I don't know anything about them.
