Ask Oilers fans, how much they struggled over the years to find someone other than Draisaitl to ride shotgun with McDavid. Rantanen does it pretty damn well with MacKinnon.

Things have obviously changed. He didn't think he was actually getting traded, so he held firm. Good chance he would've taken the Avs offer, had he actually known they were going to trade him. The Avs/his agent didn't communicate that well enough for him. Finnish players in the 4-nations all said that Rantanen was still kinda shocked about the trade, banging on about how he didn't want it to happen and would've prefered to stay with the Avs.

It's a good thing for the Avs. He looks terrible, lucky he didn't sign

Honestly, that probably depends more on Necas and how his career progresses. Unless this whole thing lights a fire under Rantanen, and he comes into camp next season (wherever that is) in the best shape of his life

People don't realize one very important thing. If Landy can't go, Val is the only prayer we have of actually replacing him.

His groin shit can be fixed plenty of goalies have proven that, and I think the rehab disappearing stuff is done after watching his interview. He's serious, he's greatful to this organization, and dedicated. He convinced me. Maybe only me but, that's fine.

You can go get guys like Tippet, or Crouse to recreate the depth in that role.

You are NOT getting another PPG two way monster. Not during this cores life cycle.

They're the playoff engine that makes this whole thing work. The Avs have always won by being skilled, but unafraid of the dirty parts of what it takes to win even amongst their best players.

Guys like Forsberg, Landeskog, and Nuke have been huge series breaking players when they're needed.

So piss on it all you want, but we all blame Nuke for basically not being in legit competition for two cups lol.

Who cares? Val Nichushkin has hardly been available the last 2.5 seasons. He has only played in 57% of the regular season games and 56% of the playoff games.

This team needs guys in the lineup, not guys rehabbing injuries or drug addictions. A worse player who is able to play >90% of the games is worth more to this team than Val Nichushkin could ever dream of being because he's never. f***ing. here.

I fully agree. Time to get guys that can play and cut ties with guys that can't. That's including 92 and 13.

Get a new coach, get a new captain and try to save the season. The rest of Mack's and Makar's prime can't go to waste.

I do think they need a new captain, but they'll never cut bait with Landeskog. It'll either be he plays or goes on LTIR and the Avs use his money elsewhere.

13 is the one who needs to go because we need a legit 2nd/3rd line forward with size and speed in the lineup. I'd ship him to Utah right now for Lawson Crouse straight up knowing Crouse is a worse offensive player.

Cmac made the conscious decision to surround 3 of the top 15 players (then traded one of them) in the league with this pablum. Just a masterclass in team building.

This is the last season the Avs can afford all this uncertainty if they fizzle out early (if they even make it at this rate).

They either need to completely revamp this team and trade Middlestadt, Colton, and Wood or fire Bednar and get a coach that can utilize more than 50 players in the league.
