Should we?

Man did we dodge a bullet there!
i recall back then Henchy was pumping his tires as the best 5-on-5 offense producers from the back-end, who was worth $7M per year on the open market.
We traded him for Kadri, won a Cup while he started spiraling downward and never stopped...
I loved Barrie while he was with us, but wow did the Avs make the right decision there! We owe another one to Makar, because if he hadn't been there, we would have re-signed Barrie for sure!

It's a very risk free play. If it doesn't work out, we waive him again. If not claimed, he only counts 100k against the cap. 1.15 of his 1.25 cap hit is buried.
Totally cooked. His skating is close to Middleton level.

One of those instances where a guy bet on himself...and lost.

Barrie was an absolute wonder to watch in his prime though. We're spoiled rotten with Cale now but TB4 weaving through traffic the way he did to set up plays/shots was so much fun to see on a nightly basis. We also need to remember he continually had absolute garbage defensive partners the whole time he was in Colorado.

I have no idea about what his current play is like, obviously his contracts and stats speak for themselves and getting waived by the Flames...

I'm just saying, it's basically a zero risk lottery ticket, and might as well do it just to see a MacK and TBoobs reunion.

I didn't follow your back-and-forth, so my comment is out of context... but do you have to resort to insults ?

They used Seguin's LTIR.

It’s amusing and sometimes irritating when someone is obstinant because they think they have a point when they really don’t. He listed a bunch of names as though that’s a reason wouldn’t want another line in the water. Just look at Montreal. For a while they had a bunch of names as prospects (D prospects). Out of that there’s probably only two they feel good about at the moment.

It’s also weird how this board has this dynamic where it’s important to be as bold as possible in declaring what you’re willing to trade. It’s like some bizarre feat of strength.

Sorry for the mocking sarcasm. Have a nice day.

But maybe tboobs puts mack thru a table in a hotel this time and severely injures him, causing us to be a lottery team for 5 years waiting for his return..

It’s fun to remember those days when shots from Barrie and Johnson from the blue line had chances of scoring. But then you remember it’s Landeskog in front of the goalie who is really missed.

I don't know him much but people who do seem to believe that he's too good to be on waivers and he's only there because the Isles had a surplus of dmen with other guys coming back from injuries.

He's a 6'2 LHD.

Really interesting for the Blackwood fans. Seems the Avs have their 1G.

What a shitty list of those goalies. So much wrong with it
I've never heard of "Benchrates" before... probably for good reason. I'm having a hell of a time understanding their numbers....

They seem to be implying that Blackwood is being PAID $8,444,183.

What am I missing here?

Glossary | Benchrates

Seems to be based on which stats are used to calculate, the total contribution is just the 2 combined. Paid are the more common ones on nhl.com and such, unpaid would be more advanced stats focus but they have a specific breakdown of which are used.

Um... Again, how did they come up with a $8,444,183 paid contribution for MacKenzie Blackwood who makes 2.35M. Your explanation didn't do it for me.
