It's been 603 days since Kadri played a game for the Avs and they had a real 2C. The only thing cMac is punching is the 'maybe next year' button.

Imagine someone told us in the summer of '22 we were going to lose Kadri to UFA, then in the next 2.5 seasons trade Rantanen AND Byram and still not have a 2C. I wouldn't have believed it. The incompetence is remarkable.
Except for trying Newhook at 2C 90-95% of HFAvs were OK with trying RyJo and especially Mitts. Hindsight is 20/20.

Seth Jones would be a fantastic add.

I actually like Jones as a #3D in Colorado, but why on earth they'd take on even a portion of that contract is beyond me. He should be completely untradable with that contract.

Compher, Newhook and RyJo were half-ass, pray to the heavens for a miracle, options and everyone knew it. Mittelstadt was the only legit swing cMac/Sakic took and they struck out big time. No hindsight needed.

RyJo might have been half-ass but it doesn't change the fact that almost everybody here were OK with the decision due to our cap.

My point was more about the fact that if CMac was incompetent wrt the 2C plan then most people here are (or would have been) also incompetent.

I donā€™t think anyone expects to take on Jones at full hit. That wouldnā€™t make sense for the Avs at all.

Everyone here was hopeful. Why is being hopeful after acquisition so hard to grasp? Itā€™s not like anyone could override this. Weird that you choose this to arrive at this observation. Why not look up who people wanted before the acquisition?

And you have to question Dallas doing it too. Unfortunately they likely have nicer trade pieces.

Dallas makes too much sense for Jones.
Harley is going to need a big raise soon, and they already have a top 3 of Heiskanen, Harley, and Lindell locked down for awhile (assuming Harley re-ups). Jones would make it a very good top 4 for sure, but would they want to commit that much money to their defense?

Honestly, I think the fit is better for the Avs considering Manson has only one year left. That is, assuming we think that Jones can provide 3 good years of middle pairing play

Because most of the time the players people here want are not available or they cost way too much the Avs could afford back then. But even if they were my point was about calling somebody incompetent when most agreed with the trades/signings. That makes everybody incompetent as well.

Youā€™re misinterpreting being hopeful as agreeing. No one on HFAvs agreed to this. Avs mgt did. No one consulted HFAvs before the trade whereby they agreed with it.

Colton Wood and something else for Marchand

Obviously nobody agreed with it as like you said the Avs never asked us.....but go ahead and spin it the way you want I guess.

Cmac is incompetent. The people that agreed with the Ryjo trade were wrong. Both can be true.

That doesnā€™t even take into account the Newhook/JTC debacle. No one thought that was a remotely good idea outside of Cmac.

Wasting the 3 prime years of 2 of the top 3 players in the league is the very definition of incompetence.

I donā€™t know what to think about Carlo. He plays the game the exact opposite of how the Avs play the game when he has the puck. Heā€™s an off the glass and out guy. But what if they can coach them out of that? What if he can learn to use Girard or the low swinging f? If he can just improve that one little art to his game I would love the acquisition. But if he keeps killing breakouts by just trying to be safe and ā€œget it outā€ Mackinnon likely will murder him or someone close to him.

McAvoy has never been an off the glass and out guy, so I imagine the Bruins would have tried to coach that out of Carlo's game by now.

Doesn't seem like a fit.
