Friedman linking Rants to the Leafs
Makes sense, they only have 3 players making 11 millions plus :-D

I think if we got Crosby he'd sykora goal or two for us

Imagine you're a head coach renowned for your work ethic.

Your GM takes Necas away from. Gives you Rants and the corpse of Taylor Hall. Now he's going to take Rants away and give you Marner.

At what point does Rod just simplky ask be let go?

People are noticing what I noticed in Carolina. Mikko does actually seem more active, and to be playing with more jam, it's just not yielding positive results.

If they traded for Marner, and he struggled there I wonder if they actually look at making a coaching change. You kinda have to at that point lol.

Meh...Taking rejected stars from other teams means the players are coming with flaws. We are takling about series Stanley Cup Contenders walking away from these pieces. They are doing it for a reason and cap-space is not the only consideration being taken into account.

I do believe Carolina and Rod are heading for a breakup, but I also think the Avs and Bednar are as well. Maybe we could help each other out... I've always loved Rod as a coach, but while I think he would bring more (needed) structure, I'm not sure how the team would respond or if it would dry up the offense some. Bednar coaching Carolina could be dangerous. Rod's got them all in impeccable shape, if Bednar says skate harder, they will all do so for him... at least for 9 years or so going on past experience.

Mmm, while I respect Rod's coaching style, just no.

My point is, he failed to score a single point in 27 shifts. Game is won by goals, not better corsi. If we traded for him, and comes out pointless playing against Edmonton, in a game we lost, will you be like, oh but he played against McDavid or Drai, so its fine?

We need players that can produce playing even against strong opposition. Ones that will end up held scoreless, wont move the needle for us. Already have such players on the team.

You're basically saying analytics aren't important if there aren't points to go along with it. I'm basically saying strong analytics are going to lead to scoring most of the time.

I'm sure there's a middle ground between our two points. It might be the game that's on right now. Zibanejad's line is controlling possession again (19 CF, 13 CA) and he's got a goal today.

This is a tiny sample size away from the Rangers system, but I'm going to be watching Zibanejad closely for the rest of the tournament.

Well fair play to him, he scored today.

And yeah, there is definitely middle ground, its not that i think that corsi and posession dont matter or anything. I guess i just dont believe in strong correlation between corsi and actual scoring, at least not for individual players.
