Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | Part Deux

Apparently Boston has some interest in Mitts. I could see it. Mitts has more raw offensive skill than Zacha and they play a slower game.

If we were to add to Mitts for Zacha I bet they'd take it. Mitts has flashed PPG potential.

We actually need the all situations guy, and they need more raw skill and playmaking ability.

A 1 for 1 with Zacha and Mitts is starting to make sense on multiple levels. Feels like a move CMac would make too.

Mitts is probably viewed as the more talented/ "better" player, but Zacha at $1M cheaper, and the Avs needing to make a stylistic change for someone who fits them better, makes a 1 for 1 make sense.

Also the Avs just like these 1 for 1 deals. Always have.

The cheaper part is why we add.

Add to Mitts and go get Jones and Dumoulin.

Their even strength production the last two years is similar too.

Biggest thinh for me is while Zacha may not have more upside. He PKs, wins faceoffs, and uses his frame better, and is better defensively.

Mitts has more raw talent to play with and create for someone like Pasta. Nuke doesn't get his points from sinking backdoor passes. It's all in front of the net or him driving and creating it himself.

Kadri has never been that fast. You all need to go take some soap and wash that out. He's a cerebral shooter who uses his wingers to do the defensive work.

It's why I was right about them finally putting Nuke and Bura on his wings.

He needs guys he can lean on in different areas of the game.

Disagree. Maybe in terms of top speed, but the way Kadri accelerated and skated in transition, and receiving passes while darting up the middle for zone entries, was as quick as anyone not named MacKinnon on this team.

That speed up the middle is a big reason why Kadri fit the team so well. The Plan A for Bednar's system, until a team finds a way to slow them down and he has to adjust with more east/west and dump ins, is very reliant on a speedy center carrying the puck up the middle in transition.

Nate, Kadri, Compher, and Colton all played a similar style at center, darting into the holes in the neutral zone on the breakout. Even Mitts tries to do it, but he has to really go flat out with his skating to pull it off. That's the problem. Kadri can go at like 90% and get to the same speed.

Well Zacha pretty much has similar, but better rates in the same areas.

Kadri is the more intelligent center offensively obviously.

Zacha is better defensively.

At this point I'll take whichever one either team will give us, but Zacha is 26..

Imagine if as a Czech he actually finds chemistry with Necas? You could actually have Necas driving a second line offensively for real.

Mitts+ NY 2nd for Zacha
Carolina 2nd+ 4th for Dumoulin
Wood+??? For Jones

Yeah I'm really curious if Necas and Zacha may be able to develop some chemistry with each other.

Necas already has great chemistry with Nate because he's so smart, but if he could have good chemistry with two different centers on the team, that would be a huge benefit, and allow them to play well when they need to shake up the lines.

I also feel like a Nuke-Zacha combo could work well given their size and styles.

I feel like they could potentially have 4 good lines with good stylistic chemistry that they could roll in the playoffs.

Drouin - MacK - Lehky
Nuke - Zacha - Necas
Landy - Drury - LOC
Wood - Pars - Kivi

Imagine Bednar playing Parssinen over Kelly lol

Who did Colton agree to waive his NTC for?

Yeah, run Drouin & Mack together, then Zacha and Necas most of the time.

Then you Sakic/Forsberg the shit when you need to.

Lehhky and Nuke both would be valuable on either line.

Zacha will never see the first PP unit unless Nuke is out and they want a net front big guy. So you count on 45 ish points EV from him, who knows maybe more with Necas facing not top competition and D pairs on the second line, but 50+ faceoff ability, PK minutes.

I think we'd be good.

The only reason I see Bruins not parting with Zacha is it will probably piss off Pastrnak.

Fk em

Oh yeah Ross.

Not as good a stylistic fit on the 3rd line, but I guess I would go with this.

Drouin - MacK - Lehky
Nuke - Zacha - Necas
Colton - Drury - Landy

Then Bednar can pick three out of LOC, Pars, Kelly, Kivi, and Wood for the 4th line, and sit the others. LOC and Kivi probably with the edge on wing.

One nice thing about Zacha, he doesn't add to our salary cap issues.

Dump Wood and we’re good to go.

Oh.. I'd add, Zacha is actually a clear tear higher than KK. And we know what Necas was already doing with a two way center like that.

Add, better player, plus country/language connection. It should be a good fit.

I'd keep him as a depth option personally unless they need the cap space. Then move him in the off season.

I think they need more than just one of Kelly/Parsinnen as the only NHL capable depth options. I don't want to see their AHLers in that role in the playoffs, because we know there's going to be injuries.

If it's not Wood then they gotta spend more assets at the deadline IMO, and they've got more important deals to use assets on for 2C and a good D man or two.

Yeah, they can go in the off season. If we traded for Zacha, we'd be able to fit Jones in at 7.5 no problem.
