If Crosby hasn't requested a trade to the Avs by the time the 4 Nations end, Sakic needs to call his buddy Stevie Y every hour on the hour asking if he's ready to trade Larkin yet or not. Pester him until he says yes, just like you did Marc for Lehky.

Larkin would not fail in the 2C role here. Period. He's also 28 and that rebuild has been going sideways for some time now. If he stays in Detroit, he will probably never get to really chase a championship. Dude has played a total of 5 playoff games in his career and they were all in his rookie season.

Annoy the F out of them until they say yes and pay whatever they say the cost is.

Also, Stevie Y just blocks Sakic's number until the TDL as there is no chance he would trade Dylan, but I can dream.

That ship sailed...the Wings are number one in the NHL since Christmas Eve (15-4-1) and are working on a comeback against Tampa as I type this.

Getting a real coach to replace Uncle Fester fixed that team.

Larkin has said so many times he doesn’t want to leave the Red Wings.

He’s their captain, best player, and has shown every indication he wants to be there for his entire career.

Yeah, like I said, it'll never happen... but I can dream.

That being said... I can't help but wonder if this is the scenario they go down now to fix it. Target an established C they KNOW would succeed. Then just go pester the ever living crap out of the GM like they did for Lehky. Basically, I'm thinking the Avs will end up getting a C that we really didn't know was available and will probably pay a steep cost to do so but I think certainty is called for at this point.

How about getting Chandler Stephenson from Seattle? He’s a solid 2 way center good for 50-60 points a season. On pace for 60 this year. Wonder if he’s available. He’d probably be more of 60-70 point player with the Avs.
No chance I want anything to do with that contract.
He’s not playing center though. If he can play center, he’d be a great fit on the Avs 2C
He would he fine at center here flanked by Drouin and Nichushkin.

If we're trying to "pry" someone one by pestering, I'd go Suzuki.

Zacha is actually an interesting target if you're talking someone you may need to pry loose IMO.

Crosby just needs to say yes though, for real.

.
yeah it’s 7 year 6.25 mill AAV. He’s 30. I mean we want Naz back who makes more and he’s older.

No chance I want anything to do with that contract.

.
what do you guys want your 2C to make then? 6 mill for a guy who can get you 60 points and solid defensive center is a decent contract. It is long 7 years but he’s 30

It's not the cap hit, it's the fact I do not believe Stephenson is going to be a 60 point two way center anymore. He leads all Kraken forwards in TOI by a good amount, he wouldn't get that here nor would he get PP1 time.

He’s only 30. I don’t know what makes you think he can’t continue to produce, specially on the Avs playing with the top 6 wingers we have

Well, his history is predominantly that of someone who doesn't produce these numbers outside of the last two seasons. Sounds an awful lot like a certain #37.
He’s on pace for 60 points this year
Last year 51 points in 75 games
In 2023 65 points in 81 games
In 2022 64 points in 79 games

I’d say thats pretty consistent. And he’s durable. Hasn’t missed many games last 4 years as you can see

If the player isn't going to knock Nuke or Drouin off the power play consistently. I'd focus on EV points.
