He has a full NMC.

This is JT Miller all over again.

While I agree his value is higher than what Bill posted, particularly with retention, I don’t think it will be extremely high.

For once, we actually have an inside track for a player with a NMC as it’s been reported he would have little issue waiving for Colorado. Birthplace, family, etc.

Dallas is a place he'd go, I'd be tampering tho like crazy lol.

I didn’t watch but what teams would be in a position to sign Rants. If the Canes can’t get him signed then I think he must be asking over 12.5/yr.
The Flyers and Blackhawks just recently cleared sizable amounts of cap room, and they've both made it clear they're big game hunting this offseason.

Beyond that, the cap's going up so it could be pandemonium this July.

And you know this how?
Common sense with all the data we have:

- Where the team was when he signed his contract (remember that they started selling everyone after the Jones signing)
- Where the team is heading in the next few years
- His age
- The way he plays at the moment

He spent his whole career on a losing team except for that one year in Columbus. It's relatively safe to assume that he won't say no to a better opportunity.

If Chicago offer Jones at 7M AAV they'll get phone calls, we'll have to outbid everyone else. That's the hard part.

Then Davidson has to call Jones 29 times to hear 29 "No's" with his NMC, before he gets to hear "Yes" twice. Colorado and Dallas.

We have to outbid one team. Or for them to have interest elsewhere. Dallas can have Dobson. We'll take the better fit in Jones.

I guess at least Dallas would have to give up something serious for that though.

I don't think Jones would waive for a bunch of teams if he knows Colorado and Dallas are interested. He likely would know if they're interested too.

I think he'll just drive the bus to one of the teams he wants to go to. Davidson probably knows this too.

This is his chance to both go to a team he always wanted to AND potentially win a Cup, after an entire career on shitty teams. He's not passing that up to go to just a playoff team. It's Colorado or Dallas IMO.

I HATE trading away our players, but how about this?

TO Flames: Mitts + 1st rounder
TO AVS: Kadri + 30% salary retained (making his cap hit 4.9 mill)

They'd probably do that if their season wasn't going so good. They have playoff revenue up for grabs.

Maybe like 20%
