I ditched twitter as well. Too many bots, people trolling just for rage bait and attention. Everyone is verified and if not you get buried. Too many ads that take up my whole screen.

There’s enough accounts on Bluesky so I can at least get what I want from sports. Only thing that bugs me at this point is there aren’t any pro mfl and nhl teams on there.
There was an ad for a mobile game that ran CONSTANTLY that depicted real footage of animals getting shot and wounded, limping around in pain and what not. Call me a weenie if you want, I don't want to see that shit, and no matter how many times I said "this ad isn't for me" or blocked the account responsible, it kept showing up. That was pretty much it for me on that site after that. I log in every now and then but don't engage all that much anymore. Probably going to deactivate soon.

The NTC for Colton seems problematic until you realize if he doesn't agree to waive it, you can just waive him and the team you're trading him to, or a worse team, will just claim him anyway.

Now, if it was a NMC, then you're screwed cause I don't believe you can even waive the player.

Or do I have it all wrong?

Perhaps there could be a 3-team deal worked out where Colton ends up in NJ, Jones in Colorado, and picks/prospects end up in Chicago?
Unless you're NY or Vegas it's probably not a good idea to screw your UFA's like that if you want to have more in the future.

Yup and and along the graphic porn clips and murders. Just a. Cesspool. It’s been good mentally to not be on there.

If we could re-do the Mikko trade I wouldn't trade away our top goal scorer on a team lacking in goal scorers. And I'd pay the man.
Thing is, Necas had more 5 v 5 points than Mikko did on the day they were traded. Then subtract both players' empty net goals. The result is that Necas was a better scorer , on a lousy team, than Mikko was here. Plus they got a legit 3C, plus two draft picks.

That list is all over the place. Is Gourde a 2C or a 3C for them?
Feel like he is more of a 3C at this time. He's been really banged up and was losing ice time on a mediocre Seattle team. The only reason I'm interested is his timeline recovering from his sports hernia surgery could possibly be nursed to the playoffs and because he is out all that time, the cost to get him will probably be low.

Mitts, Colton, Wood, Malinski, Middleton

How do we replace all 5? That’s not easy. I think replacing Malinski and Middleton is priority #1, then replacing Mitts close 2nd. When or if we get Landy back along with Val, we can healthy scratch Wood and keep him as an extra forward in case of more injuries, or maybe CMac can include Wood in a trade.

Then hopefully Colton can provide something on the bottom 6. He was good earlier in the season, so maybe he can get back to being good again. I don’t think we can replace all 5 of those players mid season.
Malinski and Middleton require nothing to be replaced. They can just get sent down or better yet claimed. You just need to trade for Jones and one other dman to come here. Don't worry about where these two end up because as I said, both are waivable and can be sent down.

However, there is a place for Mitts, Colton and Wood in the NHL. We all just wish it wasn't with the Avs. Funny to think, but we actually would have enjoyed these guys in our decade of suck.

I just don't believe Mitts can be traded until this summer barring Crosby doing something I do not believe in a million years that he would do. We've already sunk too many assets into the 2C hole lately. Bednar just needs to make a second line. This is on him.

As for the other two, I can't help but think there are some teams that wouldn't mind either RosCo and/or Wood in a deal to offset salary coming our way in a trade with a rebuilding team (CHI w/ Jones) or even as a potential landing spot for a team reducing salary cap for a player headed our way in a three-way deal.

But here's the thing. Why? Why trade all these players who have already shown they are NHL players? They aren't working you say? *looks at the team* Tell me, outside of goaltending, what is? We can't trade the entire team. This is where a GM SHOULD bring in a new coach.

CMac's got to be getting tired of spending on assets that Bednar refuses to work with. What CMac doesn't understand is that if a player isn't on Jared's top line or in his top d-pair, he really doesn't give a shit about them or spend any time on them. The top unit is the same way...After the Rants trade, MacK, Cale and Landy got together and cried it out but not one of them mentioned the rest of the team.

I'm glad Rants is gone, but Bednar needs to go as well. We just went entirely too long without an injection of anything new and without an actual Captain or team leadership. There is still pruning left to be done.

I agree with most of this, except I’m still not on fire Bednar train until the roster gets sorted out. Bednar tried everything to get Mitts going so it’s not his fault Mitts is struggling. Also we don’t really have an NHL 3rd pair on the blueline. Not to mention still missing Val and Landy. When all this gets fixed and Val, Landy are back, and if the team is still win one lose one, then it will be time to fire Bednar

I just don't think you can keep spending asset after asset for player after player and the only consistent is...if they aren't top line/top pair, Bednar doesn't appear to be working with them at all.

Can we really afford to wait until Nuke/Landy are back? I think we've all got to look at the lineup we are currently icing and ask... could another coach do better?

If you think the answer to that is no, then I don't suppose there is anything else I could do to change your opinion on the matter. And you may very well be right. I'm just seeing a guy with more questions than answers right now.

He certainly has NOT tried everything.

We know Mack works with just about anyone and WE also know that Necas can drive his own line as a winger since he did it in Carolina.

For instance, I'm actually embarrassed that he hasn't even tried :

Colton-MacKinnon-Lehkonen
Drouin-Mittelstadt-Necas

Not even for a period.

Bednar is a one trick pony who can't help himself but to overplay his top players in the hopes that they lead them to victory instead of empowering the rest of the players to also be effective. I believe he does this because he's limited coaching wise and strategy wise.

That's really not an easy environment to thrive in - unless you're the one of the top guys or get to play with them on a semi-regular basis.

The fact he hasn't tried Necas on line #2 or at center at all pisses me off to no end.

Middleton was behind Malinski, CDH, Kylington, Ludvig and Brännström in depth at start of the season. He has played surprisingly well. It's sad to see people wanting to get rid of him when he's just an AHL guy who stepped up when needed. Just send him down when we have better guys in front.

It's ok to call a spade a spade. He's clearly an AHL player who might be fine in a call-up role should injuries hit for a game or two but nothing more than that.

His decision making, awareness, and lack of puck skill are glaring weaknesses.
