We could use Tyler Arnason at 2C right about now

No, I don't have positive memories you all seem to with that. If I never heard his name again I'd have more peace in life. I think I was deployed or some shit when he was good. I wanted to create blood stains most of the time I watched him, but I'm like that. Mikko is an example of that

I f***in hated that Mikko completely shit canned his two way game for offense. The dude straight cheated harder than Ovechkin when he broke out. It's fine, his talents were better used up the ice, until they weren't.

I'd have said you were stupid for buying a Mikko jersey in any year unfortunately. Especially with Mack and Landeskog around. I have both of Mack and Landeskog's signed draft pucks. So..

Guess I'm giving up the bias here, but he's proving me fkn right.

Why do we want Gourde? He’s cooked.

5’9”, less than a .5 PPG player, a ton of tread on those tires.

Where do you want him to play?

Gourde always seemed like more of a 3C on a contender than a 2C to me.

Career high was 64 points 7 years ago as a rookie. After that he's scored 48 three times (kinda weird).

A little cheaper at $5.166M to Mitts $5.75M, but that doesn't matter a whole lot, since he's only under contract for this year.

They should probably keep Mitts over trading for Gourde IMO.

I agree D should be a focus, but maybe we start spitballing names other than Jones? It's a long shot to get the retention piece figured out and would require too much salary going out I think. Murphy is the more likely candidate from Chicago

As for C, I'm going to keep brining up Stepehnson until someone shuts me up. Or if we're confident McCann can play C (he isn't currently) as upgrades on Mitts. Otherwise just grab another F - there are plenty of cheap wingers we could grab.

You just get Gourde to supplement Mitts and move Drury down for a deeper C group rather than an upgrade.

Chandler Stephenson?????

As in only slightly outproducing Casey Mittelstadt despite playing top unit PP and a full 2 minutes more overall per game and making 6.25M until 2031 and turning 31 in a couple of months?

Noooooo thank you.

Okay, shut up! :sarcasm:

Seattle’s biggest ever free agent signing. They signed him just this past summer to a 7 year contract. Unlikely they move him already. That shit doesn’t leave a good taste in agents and players mouths.

Furthermore… $6.25m AAV for 7 seasons until he’s 37 years old? Yikes.

Decent player, overpaid to be a top center which he is not.

I looked into that guy a little, no..

Unless you can actually detail out why he's better than Mitts.

You clearly think so, so let's have it.

Why be all ghost on the topic?

Stephenson is probably a better overall player than Mittelstadt. He's produced at a higher clip before, skates WAY better and is probably better defensively.

I just can't bring myself to justify that contract for a guy who will likely age extremely poorly.

I get the fact they just signed him, but all long-term contracts will look like steals in a few years because of the rising cap. 6 years from now that'll be like 4M today.

He's an upgrade with a Cup pedigree, can kill penalties and is great on the draw. I think with the youth movement there maybe they would consider taking Mitts.

Half of his points are on the PP, it's his 5 on 5 production that isn't great - but insert the Avs bump.

The guy can skate in this system, and many people here were banging on the drum for Kadri and Miller. A 31 year old still fits our window. I wouldn't do 1 for 1 with Mitts, I'd try to get Bjorkstrand included or something, but he's not a bad choice.

Probably better defensively..

Mitts is legit good defensively outside of this weird stretch. The f***in reason they traded for him is his chops at both ends while producing at a reasonable clip. He's kinda back to that.

So it isn't exactly easy to be better than Mitts defensively if he's even mostly regained his form and still isn't a 70 point center.

This shit is completely lost on people right now.

You do know his 5v5 shit is what we care about most?

Mitts 5v5 stats were f***in stellar when we traded for him. It's a huge reason me and Hech advocated for him.

Kadri just scored. Just sayin…

It could have been, but it never did. You never know what you’re missing until it’s gone

And then it’s gone, and all you’re left with is memories

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got ‘till it's gone
They paved paradise… and put up a parking lot

Everyone remembers his last season. He wasn’t lights out or anything the previous 2 seasons. Love him and would’ve preferred he stayed since we’re STILL trying to replace him but let’s not kid ourselves here.

People banging the drum for those two because they showed levels of play in the past - and currently still are in Kadri's case - that Stephenson has never reached.

No we knew wtf, just chose wrong. I'm not even going to put Cmac on an island for that choice. It wasn't easy.

Most of us knew wtf we were letting go. It might literally be the decision that costs us another cup with this core.
