No, I don't think we should assume that at all. They were 2 upcoming UFA cap dumps to make the money work.

Boeser is Miller's best buddy so there's him for sure.

Sounds to me like he had many friends in the locker room and was hoping that EP would get traded.

This wasn't a Georgiev situation.

I also think Heinen and Desharnais' inclusion in the trade is only cap-based, but both actually have an extra year on their deals, saving Vancouver so much for next season they probably have no problem giving Pettersson III a yuge long-term deal.
It probably took the inclusion of Heinen and Desharnais' contracts ($4,25 m total) AND giving up DOC in the deal for Dubas to get a 1st for Pettersson.

We could use a shooter like Boeser, but his speed worries me. That and I think he signs in Minny this summer where he's from.

There won't be anything left for TDL lol

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Now that Miller is off the board, Granlund coming off, Vancouver, Calgary and NYI trying to get in.

I'm not seeing the obvious avenue for fixing the 2C. We're not likely to win the rental war for Nelson.

Not that there were great options to begin with, but I still really want Jones. Improving the D in a meaningful way is probably our biggest need.

Ok CMac, I’m sure you’re seeing Dallas loading up. Time to do your thing and load up too. Can’t worry about the cap for the future because it’s going up significantly. Keep Landy on LTIR until playoffs and load up

I don't think anyone should be upset at this deal, in fact I think we should be happy.

Mikael Granlund, as good as he's been in San Jose, has been producing because he's been thrust back into offensive situations like he was in Minnesota. When he was playing with Nashville outside of one season he looked brutal, and his brief stint on Pittsburgh's 3rd line he looked brutal. If Dallas expects to play him on the 3rd line, they may not be getting great results.

Cody Ceci is who he is. One of the worst defensemen this league has seen in the last 25 years and somehow continues to find roles on teams - prominent roles, too.

I'm happy as an Avs fan today.
