I think there's a lot of untapped potential there. Everyone on Anaheim is a mess, even Leo Carlsson is struggling this season. We’re gonna downgrade 2C in a playoff race?
Untapped potential is one thing, but the Zegras gamble only makes sense if it's not making the team weaker. That's all he is at this point, a gamble. He has had back to back poor seasons.I think there's a lot of untapped potential there. Everyone on Anaheim is a mess, even Leo Carlsson is struggling this season.

Yep, most of y'all haven't really seen Zegras play. He's a phenomenal talent who's being ground to fine bits by an incompetent GM (and the guy before him was even worse) and a clueless coach. Injuries aren't helping but the system isn't allowing anyone there to flourish unless their names are Frank Vatrano or Troy Terry.I want nothing to do with JT Miller, but if it's Miller or Zegras I take Miller 11 out of 10 times.
Petey and JTM weren't having issues under Boudreau but JTM and Horvat sure as hell did. After hearing Bruce Boudreau on the Sheet (Petey and JTM had no issues under his short tenure), I’m a bit warmer on Miller. He just needs a very specific environment where there’s accountability and bluntness. We know that’s the type of room Nate holds courts over. With Cale and a returning Landeskog, I wouldn’t foresee the present issues rearing their head if he were traded here.
Yes, there’s a concerning history with the player, so it wouldn’t be without risk, but there’s a good chance the price is heavily discounted, and these are the type of home run swings that could pay big dividends.

I'm not saying Zegras is a surefire solution, but IMO he's more talented offensively than Mitts, albeit not as good defensively though.
Anyway, there's no ideal solution sitting out there. Avs gotta take another gamble to see if they can save this season, that's a fairly good one IMO to try.
Now Miller, I'm not down with him because he's a nutjob, but if that's what has to be done then so be it.
Totally understandable, but the guy has back-to-back 60+ point seasons, he'd be less of a "project" than Mittelstadt was/is IMO.I've seen him play and the talent is there, but we're in win now mode and I don't think it's a good idea to bring in a project like Zegras personally.
Yeah, fair points if true. The hard part is getting the truth here since so many of the story has been rumors let by a local media that loves to pull on every thread.Petey and JTM weren't having issues under Boudreau but JTM and Horvat sure as hell did.
I don't buy the "atmosphere of accountability" because Miller doesn't believe it ever applies to him.

Zegras was well on his way to establishing himself as a star until the regime change. Verbeek and Cronin clearly hate the guy. Again, not saying he'll just magically revert to form right away but it ain't just him not meeting expectations in Anaheim, it's virtually everyone.
Yep, that's a very big concern to say the least. He really has dealt with injuries lately. 31 games last year, 29 this year.
Yep, that's a very big concern to say the least.
But the Avs have shown an interest in guys like that because they come fairly cheap (see: Drouin, Jonathan).
Do you know if he's actually playing center? He's at 37% this year
One more year at 5.75 then he's an RFA.
I wonder if they're looking at him as more winger addition, and trying to get retention.
They’re not even looking at Zegras.
I listened to the 32 Thoughts podcast where Friedman talks about him.
He says one executive told him that the Avalanche should go for Zegras because his speed and rush style would fit in well with us.
That’s it.
Why would another team executive suggest what the avs should look at…unless it was to distract the avs from acquiring a target that other team would want ?They’re not even looking at Zegras.

Mindless chitchat. Why would another team executive suggest what the avs should look at…unless it was to distract the avs from acquiring a target that other team would want ?
