Miller last 3 years - 284 points +40

They will need to take less because Miller's a damaged asset, but not sure what will be the total package they'd want for him from the Avs. I wouldn't worry that the Avs' room couldn't handle him, but the fact that he's about to turn 32 is more the concern I'd have considering the term left on his contract.

That's where we are with Mittelstadt. He's basically on par with what Colton was doing prior to trading Ryan Johansen. It's just not enough.

Miller has a lot of baggage, but so did Kadri. I remember Sakic joking at the time about everything being fine "as long as we don't play Boston." I could see the Avs brass thinking "to hell with this, we drafted a kid (Newhook) who didn't work, we traded for a vet (RyJo) who didn't work, we traded our most valuable young asset (Byram) for a young kid (Mitts) and it's not working either." Sakic can regurgitate the Kadri line, but replace Boston with Pettersson.

Personally, I'd be for Miller. MacFarland talked about replacing Rantanen in the aggregate, and Miller would give Colorado a second point-per-game player in addition to Necas. As is, I don't think the Avalanche are getting out of the first round, and that's the first time in many years I've thought that. But upgrade from Mittelstadt to Miller? I'd start thinking about another deep run...provided they also do something on defense.

EF said in 32T that Marchand's name has suddenly come up in trade discussion. I know he's 36, but any chance CMac goes out and gets Nate's friend? See where it goes, and worry about an extension after the season, if he continues to play past this year?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they show interest. Who knows if they can get something done though. Also, I am certain Marchand plays next year at the least.
