Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | Part Deux

Well, frankly, Lehky is the closest thing to that they have. He certainly has the determination to take punishment in the net front area, but being able to get to rebounds and gain enough leverage to get off a shot consistently is a little outside his skill set.

Exactly, so I'm saying with the question around Landeskog and Nichushkin. If you want Bednar to keep working as the HC. You neeeeeeeed to truly go find players that make his system work.

When the team isn't scoring off the rush, he wants high low after cycles. We rely on our lower lines to get it deep, and get it back to the D who is often out above their pay grade to create. You need guys in the bottom six who can do that.

When Makar is out there with the third or 4th line dropping bombs and no one is there it drives me nuts.

These guys, Colton and Wood are supposed to be. Wood is there sometimes, Colton never is. Like f*** NEVER for as hard as that dude is supposed to be he's never at the net.

How is Stephenson really any different than Mitts. I think he’s a 50-60 point center. I think we all agree we need an improvement. Stephenson feels more of a re-arranging the chairs
2 Cups where he's played significant roles (4th line C for WSH but outplayed his competition consistently and broke out)
top 6 role on a cup winner with 20 points in 22 games
Plays with speed, better defensively than Mitts.
Over 50% on the dot, PKs

It's not a huge upgrade but probably still an upgrade. Although I'd be watching tapes on those other playoff performances first. I wouldn't move them 1 for 1 though, the incentive would be a guy like Bjorkstrand coming as well. If not, it could be a guy that supplements Mitts instead, but I think they'd go after Gourde instead if that was the goal.

Leaves a possibility for something like:

To COL:
Stephenson
Bjorkstrand

To SEA:
Mittlestadt
+ something

then a 3way

To COL:
Jones @7,5M

To NJ:
Colton
+something

To CHI:
Mercer
Wood

Not sure if the cap all makes sense but maybe a base. Would leave:

Nuke - Mack - Necas
Drouin - Stephenson - Bjorkstrand
Parssinen- Drury - Lehky
Kivi - Kelly - LOC
Ivan/Landeskog POs

Toews - Makar
Girard - Jones
Kylinton - Manson
De Haan - Malinski

With a lot of those guys already under contract for next year and a rising cap (only Drouin really). Also keeps our top prospects like Ritchie (likely). Perhaps a guy like Tanev is targeted instead of Bjorkstrand to make the cap work

I feel bipolar on this topic..

I'd be a f***in lunatic too between NY and Vancouver.

Part of me gets his frustration, the other part of me thinks he's a bitch, and needs a pillow party.

Like literally, he needs to stfu, and play hockey.
Too bad there’s no such thing as a STFU clause in one’s contract. At least that I’m aware of.

I understand Kings might not want to keep him in the West, but if Brandt f***ing Clarke is truly available, I would trade every single talented prospect or high draft pick for him in seconds.

Farabee is the best player in that deal easily, I like it from the Flames POV. Not sure wtf the Flyers are doing here. Sure you might get rid of some players Torts doesn't like, but the ones they brought back seem even worse when it regards functioning in his system...unless they want Kuzmenko as a mentor for Michkov.

Imagine Miller seeing Mitts in the weight room.

Imagine Miller hearing MacK's dietary requirements of teamates. He'll be more like....

Can't imagine Vancouver trades both JTM and Pettersson. Especially only being 1 point back of Calgary for WC2.

I just checked the standings too and I agree. They will never send one of these guys to Colorado unless we overpay huge.

2028 7th is one of the most random pieces of a trade I've ever seen.
They might know more than us. New Datsyuk or Hasek brewing in the later rounds. Any kids we might know? 😂

Messing around on Puckpedia and saw a few Nucks fans propose Mitts and Colton (assuming he’s waive) for Miller and Soucy.

Not fond of Miller but seems like an idea at least to get defensive depth and a potential upgrade on Mitts

Also. Since the Avs 2025 1st which we traded to Philly is top 10 protected doesn’t that mean we can’t trade our 26 pick until/if the Avs clinch a playoff spot which would obviously be well after the trade deadline.

No, you can still trade it. It just has the condition that if the 2025 pick goes to Philly, then it’s the 2026 pick that’s traded to the other team. And vice versa if it’s the 2026 pick that ends up going to Philly.

Basically, neither team technically knows which pick they’re getting until the Avs are guaranteed not to pick in the top 10.
But it gets a little more complicated than that. If the avs don’t make the playoffs, then both teams would have to wait til the lottery is done before knowing which picks they’re getting.
And if the Avs actually end up drafting in the top 10, it prob defers both picks to 2026 and 2027 1sts.
Rick saying the Avs are in on Miller is big.
If you listen to the quick video, Rick doesn’t really say the Avs are in on Miller. He says he wonders IF the Avs are on Miller because supposedly there was framework for a deal 2 years ago for Byram+Newhook.

Here's the reality for me, if that aren't done, and they better not be, they need to get the show on the road so to speak.

The team as of today is very mid. The longer you wait the more you risk your playoff chances. The team on the ice today is not a playoff team and will struggle to even get wins as shown by the results of the last 3 games.

Where? 32 Thoughts?

If you can share a link that would be helpful. I’d like to understand if it’s speculation or reporting a fact.
Yeah, 32 thoughts. I listened to a snipet they had on Halford and Brough. Basically EF said that he's heard some speculation about Colorado, and that while Miller's preference would be Eastern conference, he probably would waive for Colorado.
